One talented artist, also aZeldafan, has created an animated wallpaper forThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, reimagining the world of Hyrule in a pixel art style. While some fans are already looking ahead to therelease ofTears of the Kingdom, this fan art shows gamers have not forgotten about some of Link’s past adventures.
Even though manyZeldatitles were released before it,Twilight Princessstood out due to its more realistic art style. Described by many as more mature compared to the designs of some past games in the franchise, Nintendo made use of the hardware of the GameCube and Wii to provide gamers with more realistic graphics. While the game is known for this more mature art style, one gamer decided to see what it would look like with a more retro appearance.

Recently, a user known as itzaspace on Reddit shared a wallpaper they had created based onTwilight Princess, and the results were nothing short of impressive. Remarkably, the 3D designs of Link and Zelda transferred surprisingly well to pixel art. In the image, the two main characters were on a horse, presumably Epona, near the Great Bridge of Hylia. In addition to the main characters,Hyrule Castlecould be seen in the distance set against a striking orange sky, with the game’s title at the top of the wallpaper.
While this scene created by itzaspace was already impressive, the artist decided to take things another step further by adding animation to theTwilight Princesswallpaper. Among the animated parts of the picture were petals that floated across the screen. In addition, the clothing on Link and Zelda moved gently in the wind, as did the flowers on the ground. Even Epona’s tail could be seen swaying back and forth.
Unsurprisingly, this wallpaper has made quite an impact on theZeldasubreddit. Since itzaspace posted the image, it has gained more than 4K upvotes, and nostalgic fans have taken to the comments to compliment the artist on their work. Expectedly, numerous gamers hoped to use the wallpaper for their devices, and, thankfully, the artist provided a link in the Reddit comments for those wanting to do so.
This impressive fan art made by itzaspace comes as someZeldafans still wantThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princesson the Nintendo Switch. While the console has already seen the inclusion of titles such asSkyward Sword, along withOcarina of TimeandMajora’s Maskthrough the Nintendo Online Service,Twilight Princesshas been notably absent. While there is always the chance that Nintendo could announce the game for Switch in the future, at least fans will be able to continue celebrating the game through nostalgic fan art in the meantime.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princessis available now on GameCube, Wii, and Wii U.
