Anyone who plays RPGs knows that the greatest gift, reward, or prize that can be obtained, even more important than gold, is extra inventory space. Bigger bags means an increased ability to carry the cool items found during all those wild adventures.

InWorld of Warcraft: Classic, players need extra space for all kinds of interesting stuff. In a version of the game that doesn’t have transmog or gear storage for sets, players have to get creative when it comes to extra bag space. There are a few handy ways to manage inventory space, although sometimes that means emptying those bags, too.

8Finish The Cortello’s Riddle Quest

Level 35 is barely starting on the grind for real, and bag space is part of the challenge of getting that character to 60. Most of the bags characters have at this level aren’t any bigger than 8, or maybe a hefty 12, and the reward for finishing this quest is a massive 14-slot bag, which is ridiculous for this level.

This is one of the game’s hidden quests that starts in Stranglethorn Vale with scroll players can find on the deck of any of the pirate ships docked on the southeastern part of the zone. Open the scrollto begin the quest chain, which consists of a series of riddles that takes the character all over Azeroth, finally ending at the base of a waterfall in the Hinterlands.

7Have An Bank Alt…Or Two

This could be one of the most common tricks that players use to get extra storage space. In fact, after a certain amount of levels, it becomes a necessity, so even if they never get past level 1 it’s one way to get access to a few extra bag slots and a whole other bank account.

The downside of this very common practice is that it has a domino effect, especially if the player decides to level those characters. It’s only possible to store items with an alt if they aren’t soulbound, and most of the old gear purchased with arena points or badges is bound to the character that bought it and can’t be stored elsewhere.

6Be An Alt

Instead of making alts, be one. The main, or high-level character, can send the alt all the extra bags to the alt that they need to make the leveling process easier, and for a maxed-out character, the cost is pocket change.

Most low-level characters have six or eight slot bags, so sending a few with 12 slots would be insane. Even then, there are still slots left for the profession and soul-shard bags if the character needs them. Certain low-level vendors sell bags, and there’s no shortage of them in the Auction House.

5Be A Tailor

Aside from perks like cool clothes and magic carpet mounts,Tailors also have a big advantagewhen it comes to extra bag space because they can make most types of bags themselves. They can also make the storage bags associated with most professions so characters have somewhere to put their rocks, minerals, leather, or other crafting bits.

Even a Tailor who isn’t max level or hasn’t done any reputation grinds can make a few simple bags, and the ones that do can make the big 22-slot bags with a pattern only available in Northrend. The Sons of Hodir is a faction with a few handy recipes, one of them being the Pattern: Glacial Bag.

4Learn How To Cook

It may not seem like the Cooking profession is related to bag space, but playerscan make something usefulout of all that junk they pick up while questing and hunting. That Chilled Meat and Succulent Clam take up a lot less space if it’s cooked, and the buffs aren’t too shabby, either.

Consumables aren’t soulbound, with the exception of certain flasks and holiday foods, so another way to clear out bag space with the Cooking skill is by turning that meat or fish into buff foods and either giving it away or selling it.Raiders need their consumesand some of the most expensive things on the Auction House are consumables.

3Don’t Be A Warlock

Warlocks are the best class in the game, except for one thing; those pesky soul shards. Soul shards are an essential regent for every Warlock, regardless of specification, and it’s recommended that a respectable Warlock always have a few in their inventory. This is yet another reason there are so many Warlocks that take up Tailoring, so they can make their own soul shard bags.

In retail, soul shards are organized in a different way and don’t require extra bag space. InClassic, however, Warlocks need to use a whole precious bag slot just for these pesky soul shards, and that’s a whole lot of inventory spaces to give up just for the power of speaking to demons.

2Join A Guild

It’s not the first reason that most players have for joining a guild, but access to the guild bank also means extra storage Besides, it’s not just the use of the guild bank but the fact that most guilds will help lowbies and alts with bags and other types of extra storage space.

Officers in guilds have access to extra tabs in the guild bank and can lock up or restrict access for others. There’s some incentive for taking the time to rise through the ranks of a guild.

1Slay Onyxia

In the earliest incarnation ofClassic, guilds that managed to slay the fearsome Onyxia got to fight over the loot, and one of the most coveted pieces was the Onyxia Hide Backpack. At 18 slots, back in the day, this was the biggest bag that anyone could have. Players would roll on this as if it was a tier piece.

When Zul’Gurub was released, High Priest Arlokk was the second raid boss to drop an 18-slot bag. In the retail version of the game, all of the above options are 22 slot bags, which were expanded when theWrath of the Lich Kingwas released.
