AWorld of Warcraftplayer has reached the maximum level without leaving the starting ship in Exile’s Reach. This mind-boggling feat is one of the most impressiveWorld of Warcraftleveling experiments in the game’s long history.

World of Warcraftfan and Redditor Cheatcho is the mastermind behind this particular project. They were able to reach level 70 on their Pandaren shaman without leaving the tutorial ship players spawn in on at the beginning of Exile’s Reach–a new starting zone introduced in Shadowlands. However, the ship doesn’t have any enemies, gathering nodes, or other sources of experience, meaning Cheatcho had to get creative to gain levels.

The secret to Cheatcho’s success was pet battles.World of Warcraft’s pet battle featurehas five daily quests that award experience. Players can complete these quests on one character, and then turn them in on others. Cheatcho parked five characters by each of these NPCs and completed the quests before cashing the experience in on their Exile’s Reach character every day until they reached level 70. Though only a five-minute process each day, it took Cheatcho over 200 days to accomplish their goal–a combined total of nearly 17 hours of time in game.

This incredibleWorld of Warcraftfeat calls to mind Doubleagent, the famousWoWplayer who has been leveling their neutral Pandaren without leaving the Wandering Isle since 2013. In December, Doubleagent’s neutralPandaren character hit the newDragonflightlevel capwithout leaving the starting zone, primarily leveling through picking flowers. Cheatcho’s own neutral Pandaren character hit level 70 a mere three days after Doubleagent using the same technique.

Cheatcho’s fellowWorld of Warcraftplayers were stunned by this incredible feat. Plenty of players asked if Cheatcho still had their sanity after an act of such patience and tedium. To their surprise, Cheatcho confirmed they planned on doing this again to levela Rogue inWorld of Warcraft–one of their least favorite classes. Cheatcho’s Reddit post attracted over a hundred comments within hours of being posted.

Some of theExile’s Reach NPCs appear inWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightas background NPCs and quest-givers. Breka Grimaxe of the Horde and Garrick of the Alliance can both be found aiding the Dragonscale Expedition. The twoWorld of WarcraftNPCs have become friends, further proving the long-standing faction war has come to an end. Hopefully players see more of these endearing characters in future storylines – though Cheatcho can see Grimaxe whenever they want on the Exile’s Reach ship.
