World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Dragonflight, has embraced all things draconic in both story and gameplay. The new race-class combination found in the Dracthyr Evoker is one that players have found both engaging and satisfying, as they are currently among the most effective healers and damage dealers inWorld of Warcraftright now. Despite this, the Evoker only has two specializations as opposed to the usual three, leaving many to wonder if a third one is on its way.

The only other class in the game with just two specializations is Demon Hunter, anotherHero Class that arrived inWorld of Warcraft: Legion. This class never received a third specialization, but players are skeptical that they’ve already seen everything the Evoker has to offer. The most popular theory involves this mysterious possible third spec being another healing role. If this happened, the Evoker would encroach on some exclusive territory, clashing withWorld of Warcraft’s most iconic healing class, the Priest.

World of Warcraft’s Evokers Have Room For a Second Healing Specialization

Priests are the only class inWorld of Warcraftwith two healing specializations, each of them unique in terms of both utility and flavor. Holy priests are kings of Area of Effect and burst healing, able to spend a lot of mana in a short time to pump out a tidal wave of health. Discipline priests cast barrier spells to shield their friends, using a special mechanic wherein allies are healed every time the priest damages enemies, called Atonement. If theEvoker brought another healing specialization, priests could have trouble maintaining their place asWorld of Warcraft’s archetypal healing class.

The Evoker class is all about combining the different powers of the fivedragonflights to heal allies or destroy enemiesin a spectacular fashion. The brilliant colors, movements, and particle effects are a huge part of what makes the class so much fun to play, alongside the fantasy feel of playing as a dragon. When it comes to dealing damage, Evokers use the magic of both life and arcane, the powers of the Red and Blue Dragonflights respectively.

The powers that feature the least in the Evoker spell book involve the protective nature of earth, the traditional domain of the Black Dragonflight. This is odd given that theDracthyr are direct descendants of Neltharion, created by the former Black Aspect to be Azeroth’s ultimate weapons. If a specialization revolving around earth magic were uncovered, it would coincide well with the Evokers deciphering their origin, especially given the game’s current focus on the Black Dragonflight.

Other protective spells can include more inspiration from the Bronze Dragonflight, as Preservation Evokers already make use of time-bending magic to rewind the damage allies have taken or hasten their own spell-casting.A third Evoker specializationwould also make great use of Blue Dragonflight spells, as arcane magic is a bountiful source of effective shields and barriers. Naturally, some Green and Red Dragonflight spells can also give a burst of direct healing when necessary.

The ideal combination of powers would be one which differentiates thespecialization from the Evoker’s already-existingones. Preservation Evoker has a large focus on Area of Effect and Heal Over Time strategies, so a different healer spec would have to offer some variation in terms of its strengths and weaknesses. It might even add a whole new mechanic to the table, just like Discipline Priest does with its Atonement feature.

Whetherthe third Evoker specialization becomes a realityis yet to be seen, but players are still enjoying the novelty and fantasy of the Dracthyr playable race and its unique class.World of Warcraft: Dragonflightis already panning out to be a memorable expansion, and whatever new features are in store for the Evokers, players are likely to receive them with open arms.
