After more than ten years,The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis still going strong, still beloved among the community, despite many still waiting to hear about the next installment in the series. Inspite of the game’s enormous success, it’s a Bethesda game, which often means it contains a series of bugs. Even the latestAnniversary Edition is not free from glitches. While there are those that can potentially be game and illusion breaking, there are others which are more harmless, and even a little bit funny as well. This example is in relation to the latter.

In a recent post on theSkyrimSubreddit, user Daftfunkster has posted a very short clip of them playing the game. In the brief video, the player can be seen attacking a nearby deer with magic. As the slow-motion death animation plays out, the animal in question decides to have one last “hurrah” before it kicks the bucket. In its final moments, it shuffles off its mortal coil by doing a fairly impressive backflip before falling lifelessly onto the cold ground. The player stands for a second, perhaps bemused at what they’d just seen.

This is clearly another example of just one of a ton ofcrazy glitches thatSkyrimhas to offer. As can be imagined, numerous people in the Reddit thread are amused at the accidental acrobatic prowess of the deer. One user scored it 10/10, but gave it a paltry 0/10 as it didn’t “stick the landing.” Another made mention of the fact that it reminded them of the intentionally buggy gameGoat Simulator, given the wild animal’s propensity to defy in-game physics, only in the example that Daftfunkster showed, doing so with a degree of finesse.

There are a number ofwild animals and creatures inSkyrim, and it begs the question of whether it’s possible to make others do similar backflips in the throes of death. In any case, it’s an amusing example of the things that can go wrong with the game’s programming, and at least this one isn’t detrimental to gameplay, just another one for the funny outtake pile.

While the decade-old epic is still going strong, there are those who are impatiently waiting for the next game in the long-running franchise. A leak last year suggested thatThe Elder Scrolls 6could be out by 2024, but there has been no official word yet about a potential launch, or even whether the game is being worked on at all. It almost certainly is, but fans need to hear it straight from the horse’s, or deer’s, mouth first.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
