Trent’s triumphant return occurred during the latest episode ofDynamite. The Young Bucks were scheduled to take on Taylor and Romero in a tag team match and after a few close pinfalls, the Young Bucks picked up the victory. Following the match, wrestler Adam Coleand Brandon Cutler joined the Young Bucks in the ring to further the assault on Taylor, Romero, and Orange Cassidy, who had been at ringside. Yuta attempted to make a save but was overpowered by The Elite’s numbers. As The Elite set up a lethal BTE trigger, the Best Friend’s theme music hit, announcing the arrival of Trent and Sue.

In June, Trent underwent successful neck fusion surgery. He recently appeared on theRasslin’podcast with Taylor and Cassidy where he discussed his surgery and his recovery. Trent revealed that he had begun to suffer from sleep apnea where he would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air. He also recalled having issues swallowing his own spit.Rasslin’sBrandon Walker asked Trent when he expected a return to the ring, and he responded that he was simply waiting for his bones to fuse together. The podcast was recorded on Tuesday and released several hours before Trent would make hisreturn onDynamite.

Trent surprisedDynamiteviewers with not only his return but by sporting a brand new look. His typical long hair and signature headband were notably missing upon his arrival, replaced by a low buzzcut. Many fans remarked that the change in appearance mimickedfellow AEW stars Jon Moxleyand The Blade. He did keep his signature vest and jean look intact, as well as a memorable minivan arrival courtesy of his mother Sue.

Taylor and Trent are still seeking to capture their first championships in AEW. With the Best Friends' newfeud with The Elite, they may get a shot at the current AEW Tag Team Champions, the Lucha Bros. During Trent’s time as a member of New Japan’s roster, he was a 4-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with Romero. The Young Bucks are currently the fifth-ranked tag team in AEW, and if Trent and Taylor score a victory over them, they may work their way up the rankings and earn a championship opportunity. Trent’s last match in April was a loss to Penta El Zero M, one-half of the current AEW Tag Team Champions.
