Back to All Characters

Trying to remember the talent materials needed for aGenshin Impactcharacter can be tough, but none are as complicated as the Traveler. While most playable characters use the same talent books and other items to upgrade their talents, Aether and Lumine use a different set of materials for each elemental alignment and different books across the talent levels.

So, this list should help break down which materials are needed for each elemental alignment available to the Traveler. It’s broken down by each element, and will be updated if future elements are unlocked for the player character.

Aether and Lumine

We typically combine talent upgrade material lists with ascension guides, but the Traveler can harness multiple elements, so we’ve split these posts up. To see the list of the Traveler’s ascension materials, click here.

Anemo Traveler Talent Materials

The Traveler actually uses the same materials for upgrading their Anemo and Geo talents, many of which are found in Mondstadt. This is likely because both elemental alignments were released at the same time.

Samachurl Scrolls

The scrolls used by Samachurls are one of the materials Lumine and Aether use for the talent upgrades. Samachurls are found basically everywhere, but only higher-level Samachurls will be able to drop better quality scrolls needed at higher talent levels.

Talent Books

The talent books used by the Traveler are obtained from the Forsaken Rift domain in Mondstadt. Here’s a breakdown of which are available on each day:

Ballad

Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday

All talent books can also be obtained from chests, the Parametric Transformer, and some events.

Trounce Materials - How to Get Dvalin’s Sigh

Dvalin’s Sigh is one of the special drops from clearing the Confront Stormterror trounce challenge. This can be done once a week. It can also be converted from Dvalin’s other drops with some Dream Solvent at a crafting bench.

Geo Traveler Talent Materials

The Traveler will use the same materials when aligned with Geo as they will with Anemo.

Electro Traveler Talent Materials

Inazuma’s debut marked the first new element the Traveler could resonate with after the game’s initial release: Electro. Additionally, the Traveler will use a new set of materials to upgrade their talents when aligned with Electro.

Handguards

The Handguards that the Traveler and some other characters use in their talent upgrades are obtained by defeating Kairagi and Nobushi around Inazuma. As with other enemy drops, higher-level samurai can drop better materials:

Nobushi and Kairagi can be found all around Inazuma, but there are higher numbers of them in a few places. A handful can be found north of Inazuma City, on the west side of Narukami Island (before Ritou). Quite a few can be found on Yashiori Island and Kannazuka, as well.

As with Anemo and Geo, an Electro-aligned Traveler will need different talent series' books for their talent upgrade levels. The Traveler will need Inazuma talent books when aligned with Electro, which can be obtained from the Violet Court domain.

Trounce Materials - How to Get Dragon Lord’s Crown

Interestingly, the Traveler won’t use an Inazuma trounce material for their talent upgrades. This is because there were no trounce domains available in Inazuma when it was first released. Instead, the Traveler will need one of Azhdaha’s drops to upgrade their Electro talents.

Azhdaha is the boss of the Beneath the Dragon Queller trounce in Liyue. This challenge’s rewards can be obtained once a week for an Original Resin price.

Dendro Traveler Talent Materials

Hilariously, the ability to resonate with Dendro upon Sumeru’s release made the Traveler one of the first available Dendro characters.

To level up the Traveler’s Dendro talents, the following items are required:

2x Guide to Ingenuity

Fungi Drops

The materials from common enemies used for the Traveler’s Dendro talents are those dropped by the various Fungi enemies, which can be found in Sumeru or the Chasm. At higher levels, they’ll be capable of better drops:

In Sumeru, the three talent series are Admonition, Ingenuity, and Praxis. The Traveler uses a few of each to completely level up their talents. Here’s when they’re available from the Steeple of Ignorance domain:

Trounce Materials - How to Get Mudra of the Malefic General

Following the theme of the Traveler’s Electro talent trounce material being from the prior region, Liyue, their Dendro talents will require a trounce material from Inazuma.

Specifically, the Traveler uses the Mudra of the Malefic General item to upgrade their Dendro talents. This item drops from the fight against the Shogun in the End of the Oneiric Euthymia domain, unlocked at the end ofImperatrix Umbrosa Chapter: Act II -Transient Dreams. This is the second chapter of the Raiden Shogun’s story quest.

Hydro Traveler Talent Materials

After entering Fontaine, the Traveler can resonate with Hydro at a Statue of the Seven.

Then, to level up their new talents, they’ll need the following items and Mora (for each talent):

3x Teachings of Equity

2x Guide to Justice

4x Guide to Order

6x Guide to Equity

9x Guide to Justice

4x Philosophies of Order

Hydro Phantasm Drops

Fontaine is home to a species of tainted Eidolons, which comprise the enemy group known as Hydro Phantasms. Their drops when defeated are used for the Traveler’s Hydro talents. These enemies are found only in Fontaine, and it’s worth noting that they need to be certain levels to drop certain items:

The nation of Fontaine is home to three talent book series. The Traveler will use a few of each to level up their Hydro talents. They can be found at the Pale Forgotten Glory domain on the following days:

Trounce Materials - How to Get Worldspan Fern

Once again, players will need to head back to the previous region for the Traveler’s trounce material. In Sumeru, the Realm of Beginnings domain can be unlocked by finishing theHomecomingquest in Nahida’s second Story Quest chapter. This domain challenge, when cleared, can reward the Worldspan Fern after paying the Resin cost for the rewards.

Pyro Traveler Talent Materials

The Pyro Traveler was not initially available upon Natlan’s release. Instead, players must unlock the ability to resonate with Pyro via Natlan’s Archon Quest, specifically the portion titled “Where All Hopes Lie” (part four of Chapter V: Act V).

Pyro Traveler is different from other elements for another reason, too: they use a specific material called “The Cornerstone of Stars and Flames” in place of a typical trounce material for their upper-level talent upgrades. These items are found throughout Natlan, mostly by finishing certain quests. Additionally, the Traveler needs fewer of them than typical trounce materials — talent level upgrades 8 -> 9 and 9 -> 10 need only one instead of two. Here’s how that compares to typical talent upgrades, using Anemo Traveler for comparison.

Sauroform Tribal Warrior Drops

The common enemy materials used in the Pyro Traveler’s ascension are the whistle dropped by Natlan’s Tribal Warriors. Here’s what level they can drop each item at:

These warriors can be found basically everywhere in Natlan (except Ochkanatlan), but for some farming route suggestions, try this guide:

As with every other element, the Pyro Traveler uses some of each of the Natlan talent books. Here’s when they’re available at the Blazing Ruins domain:

The upper-level talent item known as The Cornerstone of Stars and Flames replaces a typical trounce material for the Pyro Traveler. They can be found by completing certain quests:
