The latest entry in the iconic looter-shooter franchiseBorderlands,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandshas managed to remain fairly relevant since its release back in March, which is no small feat in the modern gaming market. Though it marks a rather significant departure fromthe mainlineBorderlandsseries,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandscarries a lot of the same DNA, and its core gameplay loop has managed to hook players just as well. And where there’s continued interest for a game, there’s almost always some form of paid DLC roadmap.

Gearbox and 2K wasted absolutely no time at all in providing DLC to its player-base, with the firstTiny Tina’s WonderlandsDLC, Coiled Captors, releasing just a month after the game released, in April 2022. Marking the first of four paid DLCs, each releasing as part of the Season Pass, Coiled Captors added a new boss, new gear, and new Chaos Chamber content. This essentially set the pattern for the next two DLCs, which both brought more bosses and gear. However, thelatestTiny Tina’s WonderlandsDLC, Shattering Spectreglass, brings a brand new playable class alongside the usual Mirror of Mystery content. Those that pick up the DLC will be able to use the elemental caster known as the Blightcaller, and they boast some interesting abilities.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands' New Blightcaller Class

Of allTiny Tina’s Wonderlands' seven classes, the Blightcaller is by far the most unique. While classes like the Graveborn and Spellshot fit closely into theclassic RPG class archetypes, albeit with a sufficientlyBorderlands-esque twist, the Blightcaller takes more of an unconventional approach. Though the Blightcaller’s main purpose is dealing elemental damage, most of which is gradual, poison-based attacks, their class is actually considered more of a defensive hero, with a companion and abilities that are intended to be used to support the party as opposed to dishing out the majority of the team’s damage.

TheBlightcaller’s main defensive traitis its Action Skill, known as the Bog Totem. Activating this skill summons a little tree turret that launches a relentless barrage of projectiles into any foes in its firing arc. On top of standard physical damage, these projectiles are also infused with whatever elemental type the player’s weapon is currently equipped with, such as poison. If the totem manages to kill an enemy, then its duration is extended.

The Blightcaller’s second Action Skill is named Plaguestorm and allows the player to create a cloud of noxious gas that deals AoE poison damage over the course of a few seconds. Based on its Action Skills, it seems as thoughTiny Tina’s Wonderlands’Blightcaller is best played cautiously, with the player remaining in the rear guard of the party, assisting from a distance with a constant barrage of elemental damage and support.

This defensive, reserved playstyle is also encouraged withthe Blightcaller’s Skill Tree, which seems to reward those who stay away from the action as much as possible. The Flawless Edge ability gives the Blightcaller increased damage when their Ward (shield) is higher, which is helped naturally by the Wraithmail skill, which restores Ward with each kill. The Spirit Swarm ability can summon a horde of ghostly companions when a status effect is inflicted onto an enemy. The Blightcaller also has a vast range of passive skills that increase the damage output of each elemental type, though it seems as though the Blightcaller is best suited to a poison-focused build.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
