Compared to iridium or super alloy, players ofThe Planet Crafterdon’t seem to need nearly as much uranium.Iridium and super alloycome up in a variety of recipes and blueprints, but uranium and uranium rods only come up five times.

However, those five blueprints are absolutely essential. The Nuclear Generator and Nuclear Generator T2 provide far more power than wind and solar energy, and rockets are the only way players canget to later terraformation stagesin a reasonable amount of time. That’s why it’s important for players to secure a steady source of this radioactive material, even though doing so can be harder than finding large amounts of iridium.

Random Crates and Wrecks

The first places most players will find uranium are the various crates and shipwrecks that dot the map ofThe Planet Crafter. The contents of every crate are randomized, but what players find depends more on the current terraformation stage than on where the crates are located. That’s why it’s important to avoid salvaging every part of the map as fast as possible. As for uranium, it’s a fairly common material to find after players reach the Blue Sky stage.

Uranium Deposits

There are two uranium caves on different ends of the map. The first one is in the northeast corner of the Highlands region, coordinates 1785:25:1945 (use the numbers in the lower-left corner of the HUD to find this spot). The second deposit is in one of the sinkholes in the Gate Desert, coordinates 583:36:-666.

In both caves, players can place an Ore Extractor T2 or T3 (not a T1!) to generate more uranium. However, both caves are cramped and rocky compared toiridium and osmium caves, and so not many Ore Extractors will fit. Fortunately, there’s a better way to generate more uranium.

Uranium Meteors

Once players get access to the Launch Platform at 345 KTi, they can build Asteroids Attraction Rockets that increase heat generation by 1000 percent per rocket. These rockets also call down a uranium meteor shower, and for many players this will bethe primary way they get uranium.

Each shower drops around a dozen meteors, and each meteor scatters around 4-5 uranium rocks across the landscape. Since each rocket only needs 2 uranium to craft, this is a very efficient way to generate uranium even if players launch three or four types of rocket at the same time. These rockets also boost the global terraformation speed, and so using them to generate uranium helps players in more ways than one.
