FromSoftware’s upcomingElden Ringhas amassed plenty of hype by fans, which can mostly be attributed to an elongated period of silence on the developer’s part. With renowned personalities such as Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin at the creative helm, there’s no doubt why fans are clamoring to know what’s in store.

Elden Ringto some is described as gaming’s biggest rollercoaster, as most hopes of seeing a reveal any time soon have often been dashed. Almost two years after its initial reveal, fans are hoping to get another glimpse atElden Ringat E3 2021. While it’s more important than ever to keep expectations in check, the odds ofElden Ringmaking a return is at least more than nil.

Elden Ring and Hype

There’s little doubt thatElden Ringis one of the most hotly-anticipated titles around, and fans are constantly in search of any information that might bring them closer to release. The hype has already reached towering levels, andfans were finally able to dig up an internal trailer forElden Ring.

While alater alleged leak was ultimately debunkedto be a hoax, it’s clear that FromSoftware keepingElden Ring a secret any longer might just do more harm than good. Highly anticipated games such as the likes ofElden Ringare no stranger to toxic hype culture, and the longer secrets remain the more misinformation spreads.

Is Elden Ring “Actually” Ready For A Reveal?

Elden Ringwas rumored to have started development way back in 2017, but information about the game remains paper-thin to this date. There’s no doubt thatElden Ringis FromSoftware’s biggest project yet, despite having experience of building immaculately connected worlds in previousSoulsgames. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit game development really hard, and it’s known for a fact thatElden Ringwouldn’t release before March 2022.

This does make it hard to predict whetherElden Ringis ready for a reveal or not. E3 presentations require extra work whose time might just be better off towards the completion of the project. On the other hand, head of XboxPhil Spencer revealed that he has played “quite a bit” ofElden Ring, which might hint that a reveal might be due soon.

However, prominent industry insiders such as Jeff Grubb believe thatElden Ringwouldn’t be present at this year’s Xbox conference. While there’s still some chance that Bandai Namco’s presentation might house the reveal, it’s nothing to bank on. Most speculation points to the publisher’s conference focusing onScarlet NexusandTales of Arise, but anElden Ringsurprise reveal would certainly be a show stopper.

With almost four years in the making, it’s absurd to think FromSoftware and Bandai Namco would keep any more secrecy aroundElden Ringthan it needs to. That being said, it’s more important than ever to not get hopes too high, asElden Ringhas garnered a reputation to break them.

Elden Ringis in development, with PC, PS4, and Xbox One as confirmed platforms.
