There’s a broader range of Easter eggs inThe Mandalorianseason 3, episode 3. After a lengthy and dangerous journey to Mandalore, Din Djarin, Bo-Katan, and Grogu are in for a much-needed break, and the focus turns to Doctor Pershing. This episode fromThe Mandalorianchanges direction, bringing more curiosities to light.

Various Easter eggs pop up across theStar Warsgalaxy, and this week’s episode ofThe Mandalorianjust further shows how broad the range of Easter eggs can be inStar Wars. The massive cluster of Easter eggs hints at what’s to come for not onlyThe Mandalorian, but the future ofStar Wars.

Din Djarin and Grogu

9Grogu Speaks

After Din Djarin and Bo-Katan return from the Living Waters, they begin their journey toward the Children of the Watch so thatDin Djarin can be redeemed. On their way, Din utters the phrase thatthe Mandalorians are best known for: “This is the Way.” Then, Bo-Katan says it too.

In a most peculiar and adorable twist, Grogu takes this moment of silence to attempt to say those words himself. However, due to his age, it comes out as cute gargles and coos, but that doesn’t stop Din and Bo fromnoticing Groguspeaking his first words.

8Thrawn Tactics

On the way back to Bo-Katan’s castle, Din and Bo are ambushed by TIE Interceptors. Unsurprisingly, the remnants of the Empirewant both Mandalorians dead, for they are equally responsible for Moff Gideon’s current predicament. However, there’s something about their tactics that seems, unlike Gideon.

The TIE Interceptors not only burn down Bo-Katan’s castle for no reason, but they also rush headlong toward Bo and Din’s ships like a flock of birds. This tactic is seen inStar Wars:Rebels, under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn, a character people have eagerly awaited to return since his disappearance.

7Return To Coruscant

It’s been a long while sinceStar Warsprequel fans have seen Coruscant. Although audiences may be more familiar with the location thanks toAndor, Coruscant returns after the fall of the Empire, with a bold new direction for the city-scape planet.

Coruscant was a central planet and location for theStar Warsprequel films and shows, and it’s where the Grand Republic dealt with all political affairs. It’s clean and bustling with city life, every Wookiee’s worst nightmare.

6Bo-Katan, Nite Owl

Bo-Katan may be seen as an outsider to the Children of the Watch, but that does not mean they do not recognize her for her achievements. Bo-Katan is referred to as a Nite Owl, which was an elite set of Mandalorian soldiersled by Bo-Katan herselfduringStar Wars: The Clone Wars, and later the second season ofThe Mandalorian.

Bo’s recognition as a Nite Owl further proves how her history follows her everywhere she goes. Her relationship with her Nite Owls is tainted, since some left her for Maul’scontrol of Mandalore, whereas others stayed more loyal to her until she lost the Darksaber.

5March Of The Resistance Theme

As Doctor Pershing explores his new home of Coruscant and sees the wonders of the planet before him, there might be a familiar sound in the background. There’s a rendition of music from John Williams’ score fromStar Wars: The Force Awakens, a piece titled “March of the Resistance.”

This piece of music plays in triumphant fare during this scene. It’s a clever addition that ties the original trilogy to the sequel trilogy, simply based on this theme which can be attributed to the New Republic.

4The Coruscant Accords

The transition of power from the Empire to the New Republic isn’t exactly the easiest thing when it entails an entire galaxy. However, there’s a start, and it’s called the Coruscant Accords. These Accords are referenced in Chuck Wendig’s canon book trilogyStar Wars:Aftermath.

The Accords detail a treaty between the New Republic and the Empire, and although not many rules of the Accord are known, some raise an eyebrow. Pershing is told that cloning and experiments regarding cloning are strictly prohibited. It’s a fair rule, considering the last mass production of clones caused the attempted extinction of the Jedi, or perhaps out of fear of cloninga dreaded Zillo Beast.

3Amnesty Program

One of the most interesting aspects of the episode is the Amnesty Program, a developing program that sees those that were employed by the Empire working to better themselves under the New Republic. The Empire employed many, and those willing are allowed to stay in certain areas with certain jobs on Coruscant.

This program for Imperials was first seen in Alexander Freed’s post-Return of the JedinovelStar Wars:Alphabet Squadron. It’s interesting to see how the New Republic is trying to mend the galaxy with peace and the inclusion of former Imperials.

2The Errors Of The New Republic

Despite the good that the New Republic is doing in the galaxy, it seems that they are not so different from their enemy. With their former Imperial members of society, they still go by their rank-and-file names, rather than personal names. They are also treated like semi-prisoners, with rooms like cells, and regular check-ups with droids.

Not only are former Imperials kept under a watchful eye and dehumanized, but the New Republic also has inhumane methods for those that fail to comply. The New Republic uses a Mind Flayer, yet they are adamant that the device is only similar and meant to help, a phrase that the Empire would use as an excuse to suppress people.

1Decommissioned Rebel Fleet

The Rebel Alliance was integral to ensuring the destruction of the Empire, and the victory of peace and prosperity across the galaxy. However, happy endings are more complicated, and the Rebel Fleet that was seen through the original trilogy is set to be decommissioned.

There is a multitude of factors for the decommissioning of these old vessels, but the main reasoning seems to be a way to promote peace with a Military Disarmament Act, which will reduce the size of the New Republic military.
