AsThe Batmanstarts off its streaming run on HBO Max and new content related to the film is released, fans can look forward to seeing never before seen pieces of concept art made for production purposes, including a whopping 24 different designs for the iconic symbol that adorns Robert Pattinson’s chest.
As part of Matt Reeves' revamp of theBatmanuniverse for his solo usage, Bruce Wayne and Gotham got an extreme makeover that bears little resemblance to the aesthetic from theDCEU’s Ben Affleck era. Leading up to the film’s premiere, both Reeves and producers insisted on their desire to create the most realistic incarnation of the superhero seen so far.

Among the brilliant minds that worked onThe Batmanis artist and painter Glyn Dillon (@glyn_ dillon), who recently shared some early drafts of the concept art that ended up inspiring the definitive look that Pattinson donned in the movie. This includes a sketch of the actor wearing his now-signature eye shadow. The final picture in Dillon’s Instagram post is the one that contains the 24 designs he came up with for a new Batman logo before ultimately deciding on the version that ended up in the movie.
The artist also gave a proper shoutout to the film’s costume designer, Jacqueline Durran, for helping him realize said vision. He also credited cinematographer Greig Fraser,whose work onThe Batmanhas already earned plenty of praise all over due to his clever light usage becoming an integral part of the movie’s identity. Also included are pictures of Bruce’s grappling tool and the darts attached to his gloves, even if this version of the Caped Crusader is supposed to be more focused on his detective facet.
It’s possible this type of artwork will find its way toThe Batmanhome video edition, whichalready packs a deleted scene featuring Catwomanand the Penguin having a bit of a run-in in the latter’s Iceberg Lounge, not to mention the already posted footage of Barry Keoghan’s Joker in an interrogation room with Batman. As if that wasn’t enough, fans are also getting the chance to notice tiny hidden details inThe Batmanthat would have been very difficult to pin down without the ability to pause the 3-hour movie.
Suffice to say,The Batmanis jam-packed with easter eggsfor both casual and more hardcore fans, though both are prone to enjoying the fantastic concept art like this.
