Now,Bloody Disgustingco-founder Brad Miska announced on the site that he had submittedTerrifier 2for Academy Award consideration. “No, it will never actually happen. Yes, it’s a total goof. But you know what? The thought of having members of the Academy endure an extreme unrated horror movie that they would otherwise consider beneath them? That’s just too hilarious of an opportunity to pass up," Miska states. “So, we’re listening to the fans. Everything aboutTerrifier 2has been fan-driven every step of the way, and if you want to have a little more fun with this one we’re happy to oblige.”

Bloody Disgusting has been the main distributor behind the release ofTerrifier 2. While the film was only scheduled for a one-week theatrical run, it was soon extended to two, and then finally three. The outlet has been doing everything to supportLeone’s vision for the slasher movieand seems gleefully aware that the film won’t be winning an Oscar - it’s all for laughs.

ThoughTerrifier 2featured some great effects and has been reportedly known to make audiences have a very visceral reaction, it’s not thetype of movie that’s usually considered Oscar bait. In fact, most members of the Academy would indeed consider it “beneath them,” as Miska says.

Horror has long been a neglected film genre when it comes to serious award contenders. Despite some truly iconic films being released under the genre, the Academy just can’t seem to get away from their preconceived notions about it.A slasher villain like Art the Clownprobably won’t change their mind, but it’s a noble effort.
