Two of The CW’s potential heavy hitters have just gotten their official premiere dates, and they might be closer than expected. The series premiere ofGotham Knightsand the awaited 3rd season ofSuperman & Loisare both set to launch in March 2023. Not only that, but they’ll even be sharing a release date.
As what appears to be the sole survivor ofThe CW’s great DC cancelation purgethroughout 2022,Superman & Loiswill continue its run for another season alongside newcomerGotham Knights. The former’s focus on balancing superhero life with family life could serve to provide a compelling contrast to the more gritty crime-fighting vibe that the latter seems to promise. Luckily, interested audiences won’t have to wait too long to find out if that’s the case.

Deadlinereports that bothSuperman & LoisandGotham Knightswill see their respective releases on March 14th.Superman & Loiswill launch its 3rd season at 8 pm, followed right behind byGotham Knightsat 9 pm with its series premiere. While The CW’s “Arrowverse” collection of shows has effectively ended, it looks like the broadcast connection between these two shows will carry on that spirit, at least to a small degree.
Gotham Knights, which revealed its first trailer over the summer, will focus on a rather morbid and gritty setup. Batman/Bruce Wayne is dead, leaving a city of villains to run wild without a hero to stop them. Bruce’s adoptive son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) is framed for his murder, along with several other notable youths. This includes Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), a thief born in Arkham Asylum, Harper Row (Fallon Smythe), a skilled mechanic, and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara), a transgender teen with a troubled past. They’ll be hounded byMisha Collins as Harvey Dent, who is one of many hot on the trail of the framed teens. But it’s not all about running, as adept coder Stephanie Brown (Anna Lore) and ally to Batman Carrie Kelley (Navia Robinson) are along for the ride to help out.
Meanwhile,season 3 ofSuperman & Loissees Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) working together for the Smallville Gazette and trying to live a comfortable small-town life after the events of the previous season. But nothing is ever simple in the life of a super family. Lois and Clark’s son Jordan (Alex Garfin) has to deal with fully coming into his powers while family friend and fellow hero John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) will deal with some unfortunate and treacherous consequences brought on by his doppelgänger’s past.
There’s a lot going on in both shows, and that just means plenty to look forward to for viewers. The CW may not be the interconnected web of heroes it used to be, but there are still clearly some big things happening.
Gotham Knightsand Superman & Lois will premiere their 1st and 3rd seasons, respectively, on March 14th, 2023 on The CW.
