Pyra and Mythra are set to arrive in March 2021, and the two characters will also be bringing aXenoblade Chronicles 2stage toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, while the premier showed off two characters, this will be one fighter, being able to be switched between quickly like Zelda and Sheik. Each form appears to have its own strengths and weaknesses, and unique final smash attacks depending on which of the two is out at the time of use.
Rex will also be joining Pyra in the form of her final smash, though the character is still only playable inSmash Bros. Ultimateas a Mii Costume Fighter at the moment. The short trailer didn’t quite go in-depth with what either Pyra or Mythra’s movesets will look like, but Nintendo does oftenshowcase newSmash Ultimatefighterswith more detail after the initial reveal. For now, players can expect to see more soon, and the new duel fighter should be arriving some time in March as a part of the latest Fighter Pass.
Interestingly enough, Nintendo has continued to deliver new fighters that aren’t exactly the top ofplayer requests forSuper Smash Bros. Ultmate. However, considering the popularity of bothXenoblade Chronicles 2and the characters Pyra and Mythra, the choices aren’t exactly unexpected from the view of what might get fans excited.
The only problem that this new fighter brings to the game is thatSmash Ultimatenow has another sword fighter to add to the common complaint from fans that the variety of fighters has been continuing to suffer lately. With any luck, thenext fighter to joinSmash Ultimatewill add a new twist on the familiar style that players have been asking for.
