Summary
New audio leaks ahead of the Joker’s debut inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, giving fans a new look at the character as well as a defining moment in his particular story. Since launching at the start of February, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride forSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which hasn’t gotten off to a great start, even though there are parts of the game that fans seem to really enjoy. However, Rocksteady has plans to continue tweaking the experience, with planned changes coming soon as well as the first season coming in a couple of weeks.
As a live service title, the plan is to keepSuicide Squadgrowing with new content through a seasonal model. As previously revealed, Season 1 kicks off in March and not only brings with it a new playable character with an Elseworlds version of Joker, but the season will be adding tons of new content to the game, including costumes, new activities, gear, and missions to check out. While many were surprised by Joker’s new look and voice, the change is actually for a reason as newly leaked audio files give some context on who this character is through a surprising backstory admission.

The reveal appeared on theSuicide Squadsubreddit, where a user named M00r3C posted a short video completion of audio files from the upcoming Season 1 character. Not only can fans hear more of this new version of the Joker, considering he sounds quite different from the more traditional Mark Hamill version from the previousArkhamgames, but the audio actually contains new details surrounding this Elseworlds Joker story. WhileRocksteady previously confirmed that this Joker variantis a completely new take on the character, more vaudeville and not quite as crazy as what fans are used to.
However, based on the audio leak, this Joker clearly has an unhinged side, as he not only confirms that his old Suicide Squad teammates all died, but that he was ultimately the one to do it. Reminiscing over the final moments as well as the “sprays of blood” and “signed hair”, this Joker mentioned that he killed them because he cared for them, and that he’d do the same to this current squad. The comments were all very positive, with many saying that it helped this version of the Joker, especially for those who weren’t impressed by the short clips fromRocksteady’s lastSuicide Squaddev diary. Others commented that this Elseworlds Joker seems to resemble villains like Handsome Jack fromBorderlands 2or John Doe from Telltale’sBatmangame, a bit unpredictable and using humor to mask how unhinged they really are.

In addition to an alternative form of Joker, Rocksteady seems to be playing with the Elseworlds idea for many of its upcoming DLC characters. While not officially confirmed as of yet, the big rumor is thatSeason 2 is adding an alternative form of Mr. Freeze to the playable roster. In this case, it’s heavily rumored that it’ll be a female version of the iconic DC villain named Victoria Fries, alongside an ice-themed Season 2. Rocksteady has teased future content, but as of now, has not confirmed anything beyond the first season.
