A new Steam experiment is revamping the platform’s browsing options, which makes finding new titles a more concise and organized experience. TheSteamLabs update also features a section explicitly labeled for games involving sex.
Valve’s PC gaming service regularly adds experimental options in order to discover ways of fine-tuning the platform. For example, the company recently introduced aSteam playtest feature for early game testing, allowing developers to freely launch their own playtests.

This new browsing feature break things down to more granular categories than Steam has had in the past. The structure allows major genres to be further broken down into subgenres. The RPG category can be whittled down to something like “action-RPG” or “survival horror” for instance. It also functions in such a way that players can find something likeResident Evil 3in both of the mentioned categories.
Rather than genre, players are also able to browse games by different themes, such as ‘science fiction’ or ‘medieval’. Steam lays out the full extent of the changes made on its developer blog. However, there’s one particular feature that Steam fails to mention: the adult section.
Players who decide to opt-in to the Steam Labs experiment that have adult content enabled will find themselves with a new categories menu. Within the menu is a particular “adult own” titled section. Players who decide to click further will be engrossed with the platform’s expanding list of pornographic-oriented games. These includeadults only video gamessuch asBustyBiz, Sex Quest, Midnight Castle Succubus, andAmong Ass. Yes, all of these are real titles.
Steam’s reorganization of how gamers can navigate its options seems like a sensible idea, and will likely be one that sticks. It not only makes finding certain types of games easier, but helps keep search results free of nude anime-styled characters between regular games. The changing of gamers' age demographic calls for the change as well. A recent study revealsadults 35 to over 65 are playing video gamesmore than ever before. This could cause these adult titles to rise even further in popularity, warranting the separate category.
The new categories Steam is offering creates a faster, more navigable site. The task of finding any genre (even “adult own”) is now a much simpler experience.
