There is, quite frankly, a staggeringly huge list of different materials, minerals, elements, and industrial equipment to find/craft inStarfield. The game seems like it’s going to be massive as soon as players start it up and somehow the systems only get more expansive the longer they play.
RELATED:The Most Important Choices in Starfield
However, to interact with many of these expansive systems (and ignoring the Main Questline), players will need to know where to get certain materials, a whole lot of them to be precise. So, for now, let’s go over exactly how players can get Amino Acids inStarfield.
Where To Find Amino Acids
Players haven’t found each and every guaranteed method of obtaining Amino Acids in-game. yet. though they assuredly will eventually. But, so far, there are three general ‘methods’ of obtaining Amino Acids:

1
Surface-side Vendors
Buying Amino Acids from any of the NPC Vendors on any planet that has the resource in stock.
2

Hail Nearby Shapeships For Trade
Using the ‘Hail’ function on the player’s ship to talk with nearby spaceships around the orbit of a planet and trade with them.
3

Randomly Looted
Randomly obtaining Amino Acids from chests, lockers, etc. while roaming the starfield.
Out of these three methods, by far the most ‘consistent’ way to obtain Amino Acids is by going to different cities like New Atlantis and Cydonia and buying it from the shop vendors there.

City Shop Vendors
Since Vendors refresh their stock every 24 to 48 in-game hours, using the UC Distribution Centers and Mercantile shops on different planets is a great way to get Amino Acids. In particular, these are the ones that players have found Amino Acids among the goods offered most often:
Volii Alpha
Neon
Once players have bought out the stock at these shops, they can also just simply find a nearby chair or return to the bed in their ship and sleep/wait for 24 UT hours. After they wake up/finish waiting, the Vendor should have refreshed their stock as well as their available credits, though players shouldn’t expect more Amino Acids to pop up in the restock each and every time.
Now, because this specific refresh period seems to vary a bit, it’s safer to sleep/wait for 48 UT hours instead, but mileage may vary from player to player.

Buying Amino Acids In Orbit
Because the ‘Travel’ and ‘Land’ starship functions work so well to get players from star system to star system and onto a planet’s surface, the players that aren’t part of the Space Pirate life, stealing ‘Free Ships’ from others, tend to forget about the whole ecosystem of ships traveling to and from populated planets in the area of space around said planet. This is because, unless players are carrying Contraband, most times the game will just plop the player down at their destination after a loading screen instead of forcing them to wait in orbit as they’re scanned and then have them pick their landing area again.
But, there’s a lot more for players to do in orbit than just simply crossing their fingers that the scan misses their Contraband. For example, players can use the ‘Hail’ function to interact with any ship in range and ask them to trade. Atlas Trading Ships, in particular, seem to be the best ones to look out for when it comes to finding useful resources. Not every ship will accept the trade offer, mind, as the GalBank ships in particular don’t want to interact with anyone.
However, a lot more of these ships will be open to trades than players might expect, as the UC Ships (even the giant ones) more often than not will be happy to trade with the player. It’s a bit of a dice roll on what inventory appears in the shops of each ship, though it seems to be weighted towards offeringrare resources like Tungstenor Amino Acids more than any other type of item overall. But, once players find one that offers Amino Acids, they’ll usually have more of it in stock than any of the surface Vendors.
Random Lootable Containers
Just like most items inStarfield, players will have a chance to find the item they need just by rummaging around every room they walk into, and that includes Amino Acids. However, the resources that fall more into the ‘scientific’ category, such as Adhesive, Metabolic Agents, and Amino Acids do seem to randomly appear in lootable containers a lot less often than miscellaneous items, weapons, and equipment, so keep that in mind.
What Amino Acids Are Used For
And lastly, for anyone wondering why exactly players would be hunting down Amino Acidsacross the vast starfieldor for players wanting to farm items they’ll need later as soon as possible, here’s what Amino Acids are used in:
Equipment Research
Spacesuit Design 3
They’re one of the resources that are used in quite a few Research Projects, accessible from any Research Lab Workbench, which probably explains why players are on the hunt for them so often.
