The Crimson Fleet has a great bout of lore surrounding their creation and their might as a pirate armada that might intrigue players to learn about. However, the facts that players might learn about the Crimson Fleet inStarfieldcould determine whether theywant to join their ranksor fight against them alongside the United Colonies.
5Expanded Criminal Operations
The Crimson Fleet mainly originated as a discarded and unorganized group of pirates. They started as a local problem for the Freestar Collective, withplenty of troubles for the Cheyenne, Lunara, and Narion systems. However, when the Crimson Fleet had their operations expanded thanks to their wealth and growing numbers, they quickly became an issue for the United Colonies.
The United Colonies would not fail like the Freestar Collective, and they decided to take matters into their own hands. They saw the Crimson Fleet as a direct threat, and they would swear to eliminate it, dedicating the UC SysDef to undertake that task.

4Jasper Kryx, The Founder
The founder of the Crimson Fleet is Jasper Kryx, a prisoner of The Lock. Not much is known about Jasper Kryx’s past, but his past is not important to the Crimson Fleet. What matters to them, is his legacy. Jasper Kryx held a high level of charisma that helped him escape his prison, and bring many new members under his wing to start the Crimson Fleet.

However, things weren’t always sunshine and rainbows with Jasper Kryx. Despite numerous interviews and infamy across the galaxy, it was not enough for Jasper. He left the Crimson Fleet in search of a rumor regarded as the biggest score of all time. Kryx never returned, but the Crimson Fleet for decades have followed stories of “Kryx’s Legacy”, and the wealth ofJasper’s final resting place.
3The Lock And The Key
The United Colonies have a stronghistory with the Crimson Fleet. In fact, they are somewhat to thank for the space pirate formation. The United Colonies once built a super prison called The Lock. This maximum security prison was to take the worst prisoners of the Settled Systems and lock them away on a harsh and cold planet called Suvorov in the Kryx system.
Above this prison called The Lock, was a star station called The Key. However, things changed for the United Colonies when a prisoner named Jasper Kryx in 2241 started a riot and broke out of the Lock. After capturing the Lock, the United Colonies abandoned the Kryx system, leaving behind both Lock and Key in the hands of the Crimson Fleet.

2War With The United Colonies
Despite the countless adventures of the Crimson Fleet, catching the United Colonies’ eye was perhaps not their best idea. Now that the Crimson Fleet isunder the watch of the United Colonies, they have entered a war that they are not prepared for. This war is led by the UC Vigilance, a grand flagship of the United Colonies that holds the postings of the UC SysDef.

Stationed in the orbit of Phobos in the Sol System, the UC Vigilante is looking for any way that they can get someone on the inside of the Crimson Fleet.Commander Kibwe Ikande leads the UC Vigilanceand the UC SysDef and will attempt to eradicate his enemy through any method available to him.
1One Way Out
Joining the Crimson Fleet isn’t like joining a band or a club. When one joins, they are signing up for a lifetime of service under the Crimson Fleet. There is no way out through just leaving or abandoning the pirate cause. If those who join do in fact want to leave, then they canexpect death to follow. Dying is the only way out of the Crimson Fleet. Whether that means they are killed, kill themselves, or fake their own death. The Crimson Fleet does not forgive or forget their former members.
There is actually one way out, but that is reserved for those Crimson Fleet members who have grown to become captains. Those who have the rank of captain can buy their way out through retirement. However, the asking price is perhaps far too high for some, and can one really trust a pirate to honor their word?

Starfieldis out now on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
