Summary

A player in the mines ofStardew Valleyexperienced painfully ironic bad luck after an item dropped from a barrel. The post has left fellow players sympathetic at the player’s situation.

Stardew Valleyis an open-ended game that lets players live a farming life however they choose. Among the options to fill their days is the ability to go to different mines that are full of minerals, gems, enemies, and rare objects. While going into the mines can be risky, players can generally come away with a few treasures, especially if they possess a magnet ring, which automatically draws nearby collectible items towards the player.

Stardew Valleyplayer and Reddit user deadpan_rachelann shared an image of their unlucky predicament with fellow players. While exploring theStardew Valleymines, the player broke open a barrel which contained a magnet ring. As they didn’t have a magnet ring of their own, this would be a great find, as magnet rings can make the game easier, especially when trying to make the most of one’s time in the mines. However, the irony of the situation is that the magnet ring fell out of the broken barrel outside of the bounds of the map.

In the image, fans can see that the magnet ring is suspended on the wall of the mine, near a lantern. Players don’t have a way to climb walls or reach for far away objects, meaning the player had no way toacquire the magnet ringwithout first having a magnet ring to draw it towards them. The player’s character stands there hopelessly, staring up at the accessory they can’t acquire because they don’t already have it.

Other players seemed sympathetic to their situation. While it’s not as bad as losing something like arare Prismatic Shardto the boundaries of the map, the irony of the situation wasn’t lost on other players. Unfortunately, there’s nothing the player could do but move on, leaving their new treasure behind.

While this situation was likely disappointing, the good news is that rings with a magnet effect are fairly easy to acquire. Players can fish them up, find them in mines, craft them, or get them for completing a bundle in thePelican Town Community Center. Even so, this was undoubtedly a frustrating moment to experience. With any luck, the player will quickly find another magnet ring so that they don’t go through any of their loot being inaccessible again.
