Stardew Valleyis gearing up for its 1.6 update, and developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has many fans excited as he has teased the upcoming content. The indie farming sim has earned a huge following, selling over 20 million copies by March 2022.Stardew Valleyconsistently ranks as one of the top games on Steam in terms of concurrent players, and this is quite the achievement, especially since it outranks heavy hitters likeSkyrimandElden Ring.

Previously, theStardew Valley1.5 update added a raft of new content, including new characters, locations, and enemies, as well as new craftable items. The game has come a long way since it launched in 2016, thanks to several major content updates and dozens of smaller ones. One thing that hasn’t changed is thatStardew Valleyis considered one of the most relaxing gamesto play after a long, stressful day.

ConcernedApe has teasedStardew Valleyfans with a tweet, simply saying, “iridium scythe.” This has players excited because the scythe is the only basic tool in the game that does not have an iridium form; there is an iridium axe, fishing pole, hoe, and even a trash can. There is a mod on NexusMods that changes the color of the Golden Scythe to match other equipment, but as of writing, this is the only way to get an Iridium Scythe. Unfortunately, little is known at this stage, except that the1.6Stardew Valleyupdate won’t be as extensive as 1.5.

While it is impossible to tell what ConcernedApe has planned, he may very well be planning to add an Iridium Scythe to the game. TheGolden Scythe is a powerfulStardew Valleytoolthat has a larger harvesting radius than the regular Scythe, while also representing a milestone of sorts with regard to the Quarry Mine. Presumably, an Iridium Scythe could have an even bigger radius and could perhaps simply be an upgrade of the Golden Scythe.

It is worth noting thatConcernedApe spoke aboutStardew Valley1.6before. In April, he posted a tweet saying that the update would be mainly geared at making mods easier to implement and more powerful to boot. He also assured fans that there would be new content, but not nearly as much as there was for 1.5. In addition, ConcernedApe has taken a break from working onHaunted Chocolatierto get this update out.

Stardew Valleyis available now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
