While games likeHogwarts Legacylet players create their own custom character within a pre-established IP,Star Wars Jedi: Survivorputs them in the shoes of a canon character during the rise of the Galactic Empire. Every single player takes control of Cal Kestis and gets to experience his journey through theStar Warsuniverse. The story that it tells is fantastic, but sometimes players just want to be themselves within this world. Luckily, Respawn seems to have found a nice balance withStar Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Ordergave players the ability to customize various aspects of their Cal Kestis, butJedi Survivortakes it to a completely different level. Respawn has packed the game with collectible cosmetics to uncover and has given players so much more control overCal Kestis' character customization inStar Wars: Jedi Survivor. It is such a great addition to the franchise, and other IP-based titles may want to take some notes.

Fallen Order’s Customization Left Much to Be Desired
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderfeatured a bunch of different cosmetic items that players could equip, but it was mostly relegated to simple paint jobs. Players could find new colors for Cal’s outfit, poncho, the Mantis, and BD-1. These skins were hidden in chests strewn about the world, and they helped give players a bit of control over how they wanted their version of Cal Kestis to look. While these cosmetics were nice, they also felt pretty limited.
Most of the cosmetics were lackluster, butCal Kestis' lightsaber inFallen Orderdid not disappoint. Players were able to customize parts of the saber with an assortment of cosmetics. They could change the emitter, the switch, the sleeve, and the material of the handle. They could also control the color of the blade, and even give it hues that have never been seen in live-actionStar Wars. It was an interesting system, but the sequel took it to a whole other level.

Jedi Survivor’s Customization Feels Perfect
It feels like Respawn went wild with thecosmetic options forStar Wars Jedi: Survivor. Players now have control over almost every aspect of Cal Kestis' look. They can change his hairstyle, his facial hair, his jacket, his undershirt, and his pants. Each piece can be changed separately, and they all look pretty unique. There are dozens of cosmetics to collect, thus giving players immense freedom in how they want their Cal Kestis to look.
The game also features the ability to fully customize every aspect ofStar Wars: Jedi Survivor’s BD-1. Instead of simple skins, players have control over the look and feel of each part of the droid. They can change everything from his head to his legs, and even choose what material he is made of. While some players may want to keep BD-1 looking like hisJedi Fallen Ordercounterpart, others can try to create the droid of their dreams with the available parts.
Players can also customizeCal Kestis' lightsaber inJedi: Survivoras well, but this time they are given far more freedom in how they do it.Star Wars Jedi: Survivorgives players the ability to change up every part of the saber. It is split up into nine different sections, and each section has numerous cosmetics to work with. Once players are happy with the shape and blade color, they can head off to take on the Galactic Empire with their own unique saber.
There are a ton of customization options inStar Wars Jedi: Survivor, and some players may spend hours trying to make their perfect Cal Kestis. While he may not be a fully customizable character, these customization options bring him pretty close, and hopefully, the third game makes the customization even better.
