Star Wars Battlefront 2is, unfortunately, perhaps best known for several major controversies that surrounded the game’s launch. Even years later, gamers still recall the discourse surroundingStar Wars Battlefront 2’s loot box issues. Now, PC gamers are getting a second chance at a first impression, with the Epic Games Store giving outStar Wars Battlefront 2for free this week. Unfortunately, however,Star Wars Battlefront 2is yet again dealing with a wave of issues.
Epic Games Store users trying to play the freeStar Wars Battlefront2Celebration Editionthat they were given are encountering several widespread errors. Code 623 pops up when loading into the game, saying the player cannot connect toBattlefront 2’s servers. Code 918 is similarly limiting, however, it tells the player that their EA account is restricted. Both of these errors seem to be experienced by a significant number ofStar Wars Battlefront 2players.

To its credit, Electronic Arts has acknowledged the ongoing issues withStar Wars Battlefront 2since it launched for free on theEpic Games Store. The official EA Help Twitter account sent out a message recently letting players know that it was aware of the 623 and 918 error codes that many players were seeing. EA’s response was that the team is aware of the issue and working on it.
EA attributed the issues withStar Wars Battlefront 2to server limitations. Specifically, it referenced that servers were not able to accommodate all of the new players and that it was “scaling up new servers” to handle the additional load. In a follow-up tweet, EA said it was continuing to scale-up servers. Then later it said thatStar Wars Battlefront 2’s server capacity issueshad been resolved.
Of course, since the wave of 623 and 918 errors that came with the launch, another error has become all the more common. The 721 error says tells players that they’ve failed to connect to the EA servers and that online features will be unavailable. Suffice to say, while EA has said that its server issues have been resolved there are still manyStar Wars Battlefront 2playersthat continue to have issues.
It’s a good problem to have, to be fair. EA underestimated just how popularStar Wars Battlefront 2would be via theEpic Games Store’s free giveaway. That doesn’t help the players that have had problems logging into the game, though. It may be some time yet before servers forStar Wars Battlefront 2stabilize to a point where these types of errors no longer occur, but at least there are no loot box issues on top of it all.
Star Wars Battlefront 2is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
