THQ Nordic has broken its relative silence onSpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, revealing a new trailer that shows off a little story, a little gameplay, the special BFF edition, pre-order bonuses, and perhaps most importantly, its release date.SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shakewill drop on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox Oneplatforms on January 7.
The story seesSpongeBob and Patrickpurchase some magic bubble soap from Kassandra, the fortune teller, that lets them travel through various worlds, but it seems some mishap happens, Bikini Bottom is destroyed, and the two goofy goobers must rescue their friends from various worlds to bring it back. The world traveling is perhaps the most interesting feature, as it lets players relive some of the best moments from the show.

Some of the locations highlighted in this trailer include Glove World, the medieval world of Dunces and Dragons, the Flying Dutchman’s ship, and the B.C./Ancient era of Cavemen. Those who pre-order the game will get access to some special SpongeBob SquarePants costumes, including therobot version of SpongeBob as seen inBattle for Bikini Bottom, as well as Mermaid Man SpongeBob, Jellyfish SpongeBob, SpongeGar, Dried Sponge, SpongeBob’s Band Geek, and SpongeBob as Squidward.

While this is definitely exciting for SpongeBob fans, especially since that release date is not too far off, THQ Nordic remains a busy beaver at large. Plenty is in the works with the publisher, but other notable titles include AEW: Fight Forever,a port ofRisen, Gothic Remake, Alone in the Dark Remake, and much more.THQ Nordic has even teased a newSouth Parkgame, which is about the opposite ofSpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, but it shows how diverse THQ Nordic’s portfolio is.
Nonetheless, the wait forSpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shakehas shortened considerably, and fans should keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks.
