Summary
TheSonic the Hedgehogfranchise has a large cast of beloved and varied characters, each with their own set of skills and traits. Since every character is so different, each stands out as unique and, thus, are all beloved for their own reasons. This is especially true of the female characters inSonic,with many being a part of Sonic’s key allies, making them some of the series’strongest female characters.
Certain characters, in particular, excel in combat and are extremely capable fighters. However, many others have a different type of strength, being very mentally strong andable to endure great hardship. As such,these female charactersstand out for these very reasons, and would be valuable allies in a fight, or even the only ones who can save the day.
10Sticks the Badger
A Fierce Force In Battle
First appearing in theSonic Boomcontinuity, Sticks is a valuable member of Team Sonic, thanks to her incredible skills and deep knowledge of the wilderness. Her talent with her boomerang is second to none, being always able to hit rapidly moving targets at a far distance. As well as high agility, she has skills with a variety of weapons. Her survival and hunting abilities are unique among the group. All these traits serve to help her friends uncover and stopmany of Eggman’s evil plots.
Her energetic and fierce attitude is accompanied by her paranoia. She always questions Tails’ and Eggman’s inventions and spins rapid theories about the world around her. This often puts her enemies on edge, which can give her the upper hand in a battle. Despite her apparent craziness, Sticks is able to see things from a different perspective and many times has been the one to provide a correct solution.
9Topaz
A Highly Skilled Soldier
A soldier in GUN’s army, Topaz is an intelligent and capable fighter. She is one of the United Federation President’s most trusted soldiers, and part of his inner circle when it comes to deciding their course of action. Topaz excels at both combat and espionage.
Her many skills mean she has been frequently chosen to assist the government’s missions. Topaz has had a key role in many such events, from infiltrating Eggman’s base to spying on the doctor’s plans and helping secure the Chaos Emeralds. Topaz was a good friend of Rouge the Bat, though she often found her annoying due to how her conscientious personality clashed with Rouge’s easygoing outlook.
8Cosmo the Seedrian
The Only One Who Could Stop The Metarex
Upon meeting Sonic and Co, Cosmo was a nervous individual and the last survivor of the plant-like Seedrian species. She didn’t believe she could have any part in defeating the villainous Metarex. However, her new friends encourage her to believe in herself throughout the series. In fact, Cosmo ends up being the only one who can truly put an end to the evil the Metarex caused. Not even the combined efforts of Super Sonic and Super Shadow is enough.
When Dark Oak, leader of the Metarex, makes one last stand to destroy the galaxy, Cosmo realizes her potential, and transforms into a massive cherry blossom tree. Hijacking the Metarex’s planetoid, she commands her friends to destroy it and her along with it, as it’s the only way to stop them for good.Though she loved Tails, she sacrifices this, and her life, in order to save others. Selfless, noble and unafraid, thanks to her, the Seedrian species are restored across the galaxy.
7Princess Elise
Demonstrates Incredible Mental Fortitude
Though typically unpopular among fans, Elise possesses more strength than she’s credited for. After her father is caught in the explosion resulting from splitting Solaris, he has no choice but to seal its fiery half, Iblis, into Elise. However, this meant Elise was never able to cry or Iblis would be freed. Despite only being a little girl at the time of his death, for ten years Elise never cried and was strong enough to contain the great monster.
When Mephiles succeeds in manipulating her into despair by killing Sonic, Iblis rejoins with Mephiles, meaning Solaris is reborn. However, in the hour of greatest need, Silver recognizes Elise’s strength and calls on her to use the Chaos Emerald’s power to revive Sonic. He believes she is capable since she was“the vessel used to seal Iblis”. Requiring a great amount of mental fortitude, Elise is able to command the Emeralds to bring Sonic back. Thanks to her,Sonic can stop Solarisbefore it’s too late. Elise is one among a select group of characters that can use the Emeralds to grant what they desire.
6Zeena
One Of The Deadly Six
The lone female member of the Deadly Six, Zeena possesses unmatched strength like the rest of the Zeti. Able to control magnetism as per their nature, Zeena is also physically strong and agile, putting Sonic to the test frequently.
Zeena is also ruthless, capturing helpless animals for Eggman’s ‘‘Bunnies to Badniks’’ machine, and aids the Zeti in sucking the life out of all living things to make their own power greater. Her sense of ambition is strong, as is her temper and her desire for revenge against Eggman and Sonic. She is known to be lazy but is instantly determined to fight when required due to her inherently evil nature.
5Amy-Rose
A Leader With Her Own Unique Skill Set
Armed with her famous hammer and cheerful attitude, Amy has a strength all of her own which has too often gone unnoticed when compared to her friends. Unlike them, she has great skill with her weighty hammer, able to wield it in battle and use it to give her greater speed. As well as a high level of agility, she can grind, dash, and Spin Attack.Sonic Origins Plussaw her able to use the Chaos Emeralds and become Super, and even obtain a Hyper form with the Super Emeralds.
She even faced the intimidating robot Zero all by herself, eventually defeating him whilst saving a lost baby bird. This event started her journey intobecoming an independent characterwho trusted herself and her abilities. In recent adaptations such as theSonic Boomcontinuity, she displays more emotional maturity than other characters, a result of her deep trust in herself. Maintaining a positive outlook and strong will, Amy is a force all of her own.
4Shade the Echidna
A Warrior With Many Abilities
A warrior of the Nocturnus Clan, Shade is an extremely formidable force in battle. She has a wide range of abilities, from being a strong climber like Knuckles to excelling at stealth missions like Rouge. With agility, strength, and super speed, Shade also singlehandedly defeated Knuckles. It’s no wonder her master Ix named her the finest force in his army.
Being one of the Marauders’ lead members, Shade can match her high physical and fighting strength with much mental fortitude. She’s able to assess any situation and quickly work out how to gain the upper hand. However, she was so focused on being loyal to Ix that she failed to see his true evil intentions. But Shade acts quickly, redeeming herself and siding with Sonic before it’s too late.
3Merlina
Holds Great Power and Influence
As a powerful wizard, Merlina holds great influence and strength, though she eventually uses this for evil purposes. Letting herself become corrupted, she was able to manipulate Sonic into obtaining Excalibur for her. With its power, she began to freeze her world at a single moment in time andtransformed into the formidable Dark Queen, a version with even greater power and abilities.
In her normal form, Merlina possesses high speed and is able to teleport. As the Dark Queen, she holds influence over the armies of the underworld. Though she struggles inwardly with her emotions, she receives Sonic’s help and eventually lets go of her corruption and is redeemed.
2Rouge the Bat
Can Match Knuckles The Echidna’s Strength
Rouge has many traits of strength, particularly excelling in speed, stealth, and kicking power. She can even smash rocks with kicks of intense power, rivaling Knuckles' famous strength.Performing her signature ‘Screw Kick’ maneuver, Rouge can drill through terrain and even enemy robots by rapidly spinning. Her strong bat wings allow her to lift and carry fellow teammates for quite some time. Rouge was the founding member of Team Dark, bringing Shadow and Omega into an alliance that was, at first, for meeting her own ends.
Personality-wise, she is independent and determined and won’t give up on any task she sees as profitable. Though she is an anti-hero and doesn’t hesitate to take advantage of others for her own gain, deep down she’s loyal and kind. Her abilities have more than once helped save the entire world from evil foes. A brilliant spy and treasure hunter, Rouge has even aided the military on many missions.
1Blaze the Cat
The Series' Strongest Female Character
Blaze wields a power unmatched by any other of the series’ female characters. As well as being the Sol Emeralds' protector, she can control and wield fire. This gives her unmatched ability in battle, and combined with her speed and agility, makes her a fearsome opponent, even bringing Sonic himself to a standstill.Unlike many other characters in the series, Blaze can utilize her Emerald’s power and obtain a Super State. As Burning Blaze, her powers are even greater, and can subdue any opponent.
Accompanying her strong power is her position of power: Blaze is actually the Sol Empire’s princess and thus has a large sphere of influence. Blaze was the one who led the duo of her and Silver the Hedgehog, being the one Silver looked to and depended on. Her somewhat stoic personality and fierce determination to protect her kingdom are other strengths. Though she was standoffish at first, she learned to let others into her life, and thus became more self-assured, and always used her abilities for the greater good.
