In a gameplay clip posted by Twitter user @Memey_PW, it shows them using the Cyloop, whereupon drawing a perfect circle, it rewards them with a set of rings. Moreover, the user has been implied to be collecting several rings for an unspecified amount of time, indicated by the top left corner that shows that they’ve capped out at 400 rings. Once the ring total has hit 400, a cutscene plays, that covers him in blue lightning, which also turns his eyes blue, much like when Sonic activates his electric powers intheSonicmovies.

According to the Twitter user, once the ring amount has been capped, players will enter an enhanced state called “Power Boost” that essentially gives Sonic an unlimited boost meter. Not only that, butSonic’s speedis greatly magnified while boosting in this state, as demonstrated by how much ground is covered in a short amount of time.

Sonic Team has previously statedthe combat ofSonic Frontiersis inspired by the movie, so this reference is a wonderful nod to it as well. Fans were blown away at this revelation, as not only collecting a maximum amount of rings is rewarded, it also manages to reference the movies in a fun way and integrate that reference as a gameplay mechanic. Other fans noted that with how fast Sonic moves in this new boost form, combined with a variety of movement options, there are some great speedrunning possibilities that can be explored upon release.

Sonic Frontierswill launch on November 8 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
