Summary
Some gamers are apparently having theirStarfieldConstellation Edition pre-orders canceled, and it’s becoming a cause for concern. Set to release on September 6,Starfieldis the latest RPG from Bethesda and the developer’s first new series in over a decade. Anticipation is high for this new title and pre-orders are already underway.
There are several differenteditions and pre-order options forStarfield, but the Constellation Edition is, by far, the biggest and most expensive option available to players. Including lots of digital and physical extras, it’s definitely the edition for the most hardcore fans with cash on hand. Despite the high price tag, the Constellation Edition is still getting pre-orders but, some gamers are experiencing problems with these purchases recently.

Some players who pre-ordered the Constellation Edition are reporting that they’ve received updates that seem to indicate their purchases were canceled. One thread, started by Redditor Beltaine-77, includes a picture of an update they received. While not explicitly stating that their order has been canceled, the update does indicate that the cost of their order has been reduced from full-price to zero. The message states that this is the result of a “competitive price match,” but there’s no explanation for what this means, and some are concerned that it’s essentially a cancelation of the order.
The thread is full of other gamers sharing their own interpretations and experiences regarding the issue. Some are arguing that price reductions like that do, usually, mean that an order has been canceled. Others, on the other hand, are speculating that there is a problem with the pre-order system at some businesses. When the problem is fixed, they suggest, the orders will be restored. Still others have been adding that they’ve received the same update and have similar concerns as Beltaine-77. Whatever’s happening,Microsoft has already acknowledged it will be missing out on millions of salesdue to the game’s Xbox console exclusivity, so it surely doesn’t want to lose any more because of pre-order mix-ups.
With so much conflicting information, it’s currently unclear just what’s happening with these pre-orders. At the moment, it seems that players who have received these sorts of updates should contact the company they ordered from personally. SomeStarfieldfans are already nervous about some missing features, and uncertainty about purchase-status will only increase the tension for now.
Starfieldis one of the most-anticipated gamesat the moment, and Bethesda will surely want to capitalize on this momentum. Fans will just have to sit tight and wait to see if this situation is resolved.
