ASkyrimplayer recently found the NPC Faendal, the common master of archery and a thief inSkyrim, within their house despite the fact that he was not supposed to be there. Faendal is part of a love triangle between himself, Sven, and Camilla Valerius, the latter of whom can be married bySkyrimplayers. As such, there is an oddly amusing explanation for Faendal’s presence in player housing.
Elder Scrollsfans have always dealt withglitches inSkyrim, though some are more prominent than others. Though Faendal’s odd presence aroundSkyrimseems strange, fans were quick to comment that it is actually more common than it seems.

Reddit user SandManSand recently posted an image to theSkyrimsubreddit showing Faendal inside their player home. Faendal was simply standing there, asking for information about a quest and looking as though he had just spoken with Camilla, to whom the player was married. Many gamers were quick to comment, noting that fans who marry Camilla Valerius have often experienced this strange behavior. Likeenemies inSkyrimwho fight decapitatedor couriers who spontaneously disappear, Faendal’s story is one of many in-game bugs. Faendal will appear in player homes to talk to Camilla about Sven and the love triangle between them. Of course, once fans have romanced and married Camilla, it really becomes more of a love quartet.
There are a few ways to stop this glitch. One way is to take on Faendal as a follower and allow him to die in the wilds ofSkyrim. He can also be disposed of during the Boethiah’s Calling quest if players so wish. Otherwise, Faendal will continue to appear around Camilla, and will even leave players who make him the steward of theirhouse inSkyrim. Indeed, even those who don’t marry Camilla will notice Faendal’s dedicated attempts to get near her.
Some fans ofSkyrimhave pointed out that this glitch is actually an interesting part ofThe Elder Scrolls 5. It adds a bit of depth by showing that Faendal is hopelessly dedicated to Camilla. And, of course, having Faendal around allows players to get better at usingthe bows inSkyrimwithout too much effort. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to get rid of Faendal inThe Elder Scrolls 5. So, for those who don’t want to find the NPC hanging around their homes, it is best to marry someone other than his one great love.
