While the wait forSerious Sam 4may have been longer than fans anticipated, the game’s late-September launch is now quickly approaching. As such, developer Croteam is finalizing some of the necessary pre-launch details fans are expecting. PC gamers, in particular, have been curious as to whatSerious Sam 4’s PC minimum and recommended specifications will be, considering the game’s impressive visuals and massive battles.

Those with aging PC hardware will be relieved to find thatSerious Sam 4doesn’t have overly rigorous minimum specifications.Gaming PCsupgraded in the past 7 years or so should be able to play comfortably.Serious Sam 4will require a 4-core CPU @ 2.5GHz, as well as a GPU comparable to either a Nvidia GeForce 780/970/1050 or an AMD Radeon 7950/280/4770 (3GB VRAM). Other requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, 8GB RAM, and 40GB of available storage space.

One note thatCroteamdoes make alongside these specifications is that these minimum requirements are necessary to runSerious Sam 4at 720p and 30fps. That’s a surprisingly low resolution considering the modern prevalence of 1080p monitors and the growing use of 1440p and 4K monitors. Nevertheless, if Croteam is simply working to enable PC gamers to play, then 720p 30FPS is still playable.

As for recommended specifications, these requirements take a notable step forward in terms of power. For a CPU, players will need an 8-core CPU @3.3GHz like an AMD FX-8300, as well as a GPU comparable to an Nvidia GeForce 1080/2060 or an AMD Radeon Vega64/5700 (8GB VRAM). Other requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, 16GB RAM, and 40GB of available storage. AnSSD storage deviceis notably not required for either the minimum or recommended specifications.

The need for reasonable PC requirements is rather understandable given the range of featuresSerious Sam 4includes. Just having 4-player online co-op means there will be near-constant destruction and mayhem going on on-screen. ButSerious Sam 4is also escalating things with what it’s calling theLegion System. This system will allow for thousands of enemies on-screen at a given time.

There’s relatively little time to make any tremendous last-minute hardware upgrades, but there might be enough for an upgrade or two. Some PC gamers may even be able to snag anNvidia RTX 3080when they go up for sale on September 17. But otherwise, PC gamers will have to trust in the builds they have to render those hundreds and hundreds of screaming Beheaded Kamikazes. Or they can play on console.

Serious Sam 4releases September 24 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
