Summary
September 14 is suddenly a massive day for the gaming industry. Just yesterday, September 14 would already have been considered an exciting time thanks to the fact that it marks the early access release date forMortal Kombat 1, but now it’s set to be significantly bigger.
New game releases are always exciting for gamers, but what’s also exciting is learning about the new games that are coming down the pipeline. In the past, these big game announcements and reveals wereoften reserved for E3 in the summer, concentrating all the exciting news to one specific time of the year. That’s shifted in recent years thanks to the rise of digital presentations. And now two of the biggest companies in the entire industry are set to host digital presentations on September 14.

September 14 is going to be an incredibly exciting day for gamers. They can start the day off with a40-minute Nintendo Direct, check outMortal Kombat 1later in the day, and then finish things off with a brand-new PlayStation State of Play. To say September 14 is going to be a big day for the industry is an understatement.
What Time is the September 2023 Nintendo Direct
September 14 is getting things started with the long-rumored September 2023 Nintendo Direct presentation. Nintendo has remained tight-lipped on what fans can expect to see at the event beyond that it will be 40 minutes long and focus on Nintendo Switch games releasing this coming winter. This means fans shouldn’t expect updates on Nintendo games releasing this fall, but they may be able to look forward toupdates on games likeLuigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, the untitled Princess Peach game, and maybe even The Indigo Disk DLC forPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
While Nintendo itself hasn’t revealed much about what fans can expect from the Nintendo Direct, leakers have offered some clues about what the show might entail. If the leaks are to be believed, the September 2023 Nintendo Direct is going to be a big one, with reveals for franchises likeDonkey Kong, racing game seriesF-Zero, andMetroid Prime.

There’s a very slight chance the Nintendo Direct could also see the reveal of thenext Nintendo console, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath. Nintendo previously indicated that it wouldn’t be showing off the Switch successor console until some time in 2024, and there’s no reason to assume it will break from that promise. Announcing a brand-new Nintendo console would also take a lot of the spotlight away from the games that will be showcased at the event. None of the leakers have said that the new Nintendo console will be at the show, so fans should keep that in mind.
It’s always best to keep one’s expectations in check and treat leaks with a grain of salt, but regardless, Nintendo fans should be sure to tune in on September 14 at 7am PT.

What Time is the September 2023 State of Play?
AfterMortal Kombatfans have playedMortal Kombat 1for a few hours, they may want to turn their attention to thePlayStation State of Play eventthat’s scheduled to take place at 2pm PT. According to Sony, the PlayStation State of Play event will be focused primarily on games that have already been announced, particularly indie titles and PlayStation VR2 games.
