Xbox Game Studios and Rare releasedSea of Thievesback in 2018 and the game continues to evolve through regular updates and a recently added Plunder Pass system. One feature coming toSea of Thievesin an upcoming patch is Sea Fort raids that will expand on the PvE offerings for players who avoid PvP.

During the recentSea of Thieves2022 Preview Event, Rare confirmed many things coming to the action-adventure game throughout the year. This includes four seasons, Pirate Legend Voyages, Adventures, Mysteries, Pirate Emporium goodies, and Sea Forts. Sea Forts will feel familiar for long-time fans ofSea of Thievesthat played theSea of the Damnedupdate, while they’ll provide players with more activities to do whether they’re new or returning.

Sea of Thievesplayers will be able to battle Phantoms, Sea Fort Captains, and more, so they can unlock a treasury located inside the Fort to gather a plethora of rewards. ExistingSea of ThievesFortsare intended to bring together multipleSea of Thievescrews, while Sea Forts are meant to be a personal experience for just a player or two to enjoy. There will be six Sea Forts scattered around theSea of Thievesmap with the release of Season 6 later this year, with each providing its own unique look and challenges.

There are three themes to the six Sea Forts coming toSea of Thieves, with the Forts in the wild being prison-themed, overgrown Forts that have been abandoned, and a traditional Spanish Fort inspired bySea of the Damned. The changes coming to the game in 2022 will be explained through the plot according to Rare developers, but the team statedSea of the Damnedwas inspirational for the Sea Forts. Although these improvements are coming toSea of Thieves' Adventure mode, Rare has confirmed that theSea of ThievesArenais going away with Season Six as well.

Rare has stated that when Seasons were introduced toSea of Thieveslast year, they provided an interesting framework to approach game design with. This system gave developers a new way to introduce content to players and that will be no different with two features that are coming toSea of Thieves. Rare will be releasing Adventures and Mysteries toSea of Thievesin 2022with Adventures revealing more story to smaller groups, and Mysteries providing more of a cooperative experience that lasts longer than an Adventure.

Sea of Thieveshas had a number of live events since it was released and Rare has confirmed that it intends to keep them coming during 2022. Rare has officially confirmed fourSeasons forSea of Thieves2022with each bringing its own list of content to the game. It’s currently unclear whenSea of ThievesSeason 6 will specifically release, but fans are expecting it early this year as Season 5 has already concluded.
