The much-requested remaster ofRed Dead Redemptionmight finally be on the horizon, as suggested by a newly emerged regulatory filing. This development arrives less than a year sinceRed Dead Redemptionbecame unplayable on the PS4 and PS5after being removed from the PS Now streaming service.Released in May 2010,Red Dead Redemptionis one of the most critically acclaimed games for the seventh console generation. And while it was never ported from the PS3 and Xbox 360, it was available via PS Now over a six-year period ending in late 2022. Its removal from that service left the Xbox Series X/S as the only modern systems that can playRed Dead Redemption, as Microsoft’s ninth-generation consoles are capable of emulating its Xbox 360 version. Rockstar parent Take-Two Interactive originally applied for the rating on June 15, with the GRAC deciding to uphold the game’s original adult classification issued in 2010. The newly surfaced rating only mentions a nondescript console version of the game, although that doesn’t preclude the potential for a PC port.
For example,Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Editionreceived a rating from the GRAC on August 01, 2025, mere days before Rockstar officially announced that remaster bundle and only weeks ahead of its November 11 market debut. That particular release didn’t go too well, as underlined by the fact thatRockstar had to apologize for theGTAtrilogydue to how panned it was by players and critics alike. And while that’s bound to make some fans skeptical about the prospects of aRed Dead Redemptionremaster, this newly surfaced rating suggests that such a release might be coming nonetheless.
Apart from disclosinganother incredible sales milestone for theGrand Theft Autoseries, Take-Two’s latest financial report also revealed that theRed Dead Redemptiongames hit 75 million in lifetime sales as of March 31, withRDR2accounting for over two-thirds of that figure after shipping an additional 3 million units in the first three months of 2023. In light of that continued success, it’s safe to say that interest in the franchise remains fairly high, so a potentialRed Dead Redemptionremaster shouldn’t have any trouble finding an audience.
