The enigmatic Merchant offers Leon an abundance of powerful weapons during his journey through theResident Evil 4 Remake. At different points in the story, players will be given access to new handguns, shotguns, and sniper rifles. But some of the best weapons in the game can be found for free if players know where to look. A great example is the CQBR Assault Rifle, which packs quite the punch when upgraded. Thankfully, this weapon is pretty easy to snag, but players won’t be able to get it until much later in their journey, during Chapter 10.

Where To Find The Assault Rifle In The RE4 Remake
In order to retrieve the CQBR Assault Rifle,players will first need to get access to the Cubic Device key item, which can be used to unlock the Locked Square Boxes scattered around the castle. Thankfully, this item is practically handed to players as it’s found in a chest at the end of a linear pathwhen Leon is searching for the Chimera Statue headsin the Grand Hall during Chapter 9. After players snag the Lion Head and leave the Armory, they’ll head down a long hallway. The chest at the end of the hallway (before taking a left to continue on) contains the Cubic Device.
During the back half of Chapter 9, players will enter a section where they must control Ashley and lead her through a series of dark areas with a Blue Lantern. As they enter the Library and head towards the back of the room, they will find a stone pedestal near a bookcase where they can set down the lantern.Doing so will open a secret passage to a staircase that leads up to a loft above the room. Up there, Ashley will find a set of keys she needs to progress through her section, but players should make note of this location for later.

After completing Ashley’s section and entering Chapter 10, players will find themselves back in control of Leon. If theyhead back to the Library where Ashley was, they can head back up to the loft where they will find a Cubic Device slot on the wall.Solving the lock will open the wall safe and reward players with the CQBR Assault Rifle.
