Not long ago, theResident Evilseries was in a dark place.Resident Evil 6had been widely slammed by critics and hated by players, and the series went dead for years. Then, with the release ofResident Evil 7, life returned to the franchise, and hope to its fans. Now the momentum has continued with remakes ofResident Evil 2andResident Evil 3, withRE3passing a huge sales milestone recently.

TheResident Evil 3 Remakehas been embraced by most players, especially in theResident Evilcommunity. Its fast pace and constant action harken back to the original, with new, modern twists as well.

The game is so good in fact, that the largest complaint has been that there is not enough of it. For the full, AAA price tag it has,Resident Evil 3 Remakeis very short. It comes packaged withResident Evil: Resistance, but for many players, those two halves do not make a whole game. Unfortunately, those who want to seeRE3DLC with new charactersmust get used to disappointment. In a recent interview with Silicon Era,Resident Evil 3producer Peter Fabiano declared the game a finished product.

Fabiano’s answer was in response to a question about DLC and add-ons forResident Evil 3, leaving no ambiguity. Unless Capcom’s plans change in the future, it seems there will be no more ofResident Evil 3. Players must content themselves withfinding the hidden secrets already inResident Evil 3, or take up speedrunning, to squeeze more from this title.

Of course, this does not meanResident Evil: Resistancewill not be getting any further DLC or updates.Resistancewas designed from the start to be an ongoing, competitive multiplayer game. The game will still be supported with new content for the foreseeable future. In fact, the latestResistancemastermind releasedjust last month, taken directly fromResident Evil 3itself.

Of course, that is not enough for the many players who purchased the game forResident Evil 3and notResistance. The lack of support forResident Evil 3is disappointing, especially considering the price and the massive acclaim it has received. Still, just like with the remake ofResident Evil 2, a healthy modding community for the game has manifested. One of the finest isa recentGod of Warcosplay mod, and others exist that change the game in often hilarious ways.

Resident Evil 3 Remakeis available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
