WhenRed Dead Redemption 2released in 2018 as the follow-up to the massively popular cowboy shooter, many fans were overjoyed to revisit the Old West and their favorite locations from the first game. Some ofRed Dead Redemption’s most popular locationslike the city of Blackwater and the town of Armadillo returned in the franchise’s second game. However, the ability for players to cross the border into Mexico was notably absent from the prequel to the 2010 title.

Mexico was a major location throughout the originalRed Dead Redemption. The second major act of the game’s story took place across the United States' southern border with John Marston tracking down his former gangmate Javier Escuella. Players were able to traverse the Mexican region of Nuevo Paraiso and visit several major settlements including popular locations like Chuparosa and Casa Madrugada. Mexico was absent from the official release ofRed Dead Redemption 2, but fans of the cowboy western have taken it upon themselves to bring Mexico to the popular title.
