Online games, now more than ever, are in tune with what’s going on in the world. Whether it’sRed Dead Online,Fortnite,Overwatch, or any of another dozen “Games as a Service” titles currently being supported, there’s usually a monthly or seasonal event available or coming up quickly.Red Dead Onlinemay have gotten the upper hand today, however. Today is February 29, also known as leap day, a day that only comes once every four years. Yet Rockstar’s remembered to make 2020’s leap day special for its players.
Rockstar hasn’t put anything major intoRed Dead Onlineforleap day, but it’s still something fun. According to players, Rockstar has made all ofRed Dead Online’s Daily Challenges leap year themed. Players can probably finish them all in a relatively short amount of time, but afterward, they’ll feel like they’ve truly embraced the spirit of this rare holiday.

Leap dayDaily ChallengesinRed Dead Onlinearen’t anything too challenging. Tasks include jumping from a horse onto a moving train, jumping from a horse to a moving wagon, and jumping from a horse to another horse. Throwing players for a loop, there’s also a challenge to successfully defend yourself from an ambush. Get it? Players have to defend themselves after getting jumped. There’s also a task for players to make their horses vault 10 times, soRed Dead Onlineplayers can share the fun with their favorite mounts.
Altogether,Red Dead Online’s leap day celebration isn’t much to be excited about. There aren’t any unique rewards, and there’s no new content to find in-game, but it’s still something– and something is always better than nothing when it comes tolive service games.
Still, ifRed Dead Onlineis able to provide continuously small events just like this over a lengthy span of time, it would certainly bring the game back into the conversation. SinceRed Dead Online, it’s seemed like Rockstar has heavily prioritizedGrand Theft Auto Online.
Leap Day isn’t the only thing thatRed Dead Onlinecurrently has going on in-game. Playing this week automatically grants 5 free ranks of free Club XP, which also counts towardOutlaw Pass rank progression. Players can get this free rank so long as they log in before March 2. This week, Collector’s are also earning 100% extra role XP for finding heirlooms. There’s always something happening in the five states.
