With the PlayStation 5 release date inching closer by the day, many are getting more excited than ever to see what Sony has cooked up for the next generation. With games likeSpider-Man: Miles Morales, Godfall, andSackboy: A Big Adventureset to land on the console at launch, it seems the PS5 will have a lot of opportunities to show off its biggest advancements, both in terms of gameplay and visual quality.

One of the biggest parts of this jump will be the console’s SSD, which will provide unparalleled loading times to help better the console experience. A number of devs have praised the addition, claiming that the implementation ofsuch a powerful SSDwill be a revolutionary upgrade for console gaming.

For those who aren’t quite sure what this means for the PS5, a new video from Famitsu Tube looks to prove exactly how it will impact gameplay sessions. Using bothAstro’s PlayroomandGodfall, the channel highlights how long it takes to respawn after dying in each game, with both titles getting players back into the action at impressive speeds.Astro’s Playroomis perhaps a better example of how central the SSD is to the console experience, with the video displaying how the new load times are perfect for a platformer.

Jumping over precarious platforms, the player is bound to mess up a few times, with the video showing Famitsu Tube descending into various hazards. However, following a fun death animation,Astro’s Playroomflashes up a logo for a few seconds and then drops the player right back into the game, ready to try again. It’s a great incentive to encourage experimentation and lessens the blow of a poorly timed jump, with shorter load times to make for a smoother experience.

The same can be said forGodfall, which shows a similarly brief respawn screen before quickly thrusting the player back into the action after death. Seen as a lot of modern games are heavily criticized for featuring lengthy loading screens, the SSD will make for a more seamless gaming experience that doesn’t penalize the player for learning the game. It’ll be interesting to see how the new drive compliments something likeDemon Souls, with the notoriously challenging game potentially feeling less infuriating when the player can hop right back in only seconds after death.

Alongside the interesting new SSD highlight, Famitsu Tube has posted several new videos about the PlayStation 5 and the games that will launch alongside it. Earlier today, they posted a video onGodfall, which offered some of the first uninterrupted PS5 gameplay for players to enjoy.
