Consumers looking to pre-order aPlayStation 5prior to this holiday season may be limited to only one pre-order if a recently discovered error message is any indication.

According to a ResetEra user who examined the JavaScript for the official PlayStation store, there is an error message upon attempting to pre-order more than one PS5 console. The message says shoppers “can only purchase one version of the PS5 Console: Disc or Digital. You have already added one PS5 console to your cart.”

While it isn’t certain that this will be the message shoppers will get once they have access to pre-orders, this source code discovery indicates thatPS5consoles may soon be available for pre-order.

It also suggests thatSonywants to verify PS5’s are distributed as evenly as possible. One practice that some have taken to in the past with prior console launches is purchasing multiple new consoles and selling them at a higher price due to limited quantity amid high demand. Thus, Sony has likely administered this policy in order to prevent this sort of activity, whether or not other retailers like Amazon will follow suit.

Among the numerous questions surrounding the PS5’s release, however, involves when PS5 consoles will be available for pre-order. After a mix-up on Amazon, where the PS5 page was put up without notice, Sony intervened by notifying prospective PS5 buyers ofwhen the PS5 can be pre-ordered. As such, fans will know ahead of time when to pre-purchase a PS5 console so no additional surprises occur.

There are other logistical unknowns right now, as well, including the exactrelease date of the PS5 and the pricefor both the physical and digital editions. Many are already onboard to purchase the console on day one, or ahead of time, but these details could make or break the decision for other tentative PS5 buyers.

These details and more could well be revealed at anevent following the Xbox Games Showcasethis week. There has also been talk of other controller color options beside the standard white, black, and blue. Exclusive titles have been a major point of focus thus far, withSpider-Man: Miles Moralesbeing a focal game for the PS5 ahead of its release.
