Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai were pulled from the project, and originalPrince of Persia: The Sands of Timedeveloper Ubisoft Montreal was given the greenlight to develop the remake going forward. Ubisoft also delayed the remake indefinitely, and an April 2024 report suggested that development of the title has restarted, meaning that the game is still years away from being released. Earlier this month, Ubisoft Toronto confirmed that the studio had joinedthe development of thePrince of Persia: The Sands of Timeremake.

A new teaser trailer aired during theJune 10 Ubisoft Forward digital event, revealing that thePrince of Persia: Sands of Timeremake will be released in 2026. The teaser trailer showed a candle being lit, with an ancient Persian city serving as a backdrop. Unfortunately, the trailer does not show any new gameplay, and it’s unclear whether the trailer is using any in-engine footage of the remake.Prince of Persiafans will need to wait two years before being able to play the new remake, and the remake itself has been delayed at least five years from its initial January 2021 release date.

Ubisoft’s studios in Toronto, Bucharest, Paris, and Pune are assisting the development of the remake as well.
