Summary
With the nextPokemon Legendsgame on the horizon, most players are wondering just how many aspects ofPokemon X and Ywill appear, in some capacity, inPokemon Legends: Z-A. While the original Kalos games still used the HM system to traverse the region, a select few Pokemon allowed players to ride around the region in style.
InLegends: Arceus, Ride Pokemon played a vital role in exploring the wilder Hisui region in the past, letting players travel through true dangers and natural barriers. Lumiose City, from what little has been shown forZ-A, isdefinitely more modernthan the lands of Hisui, so while the nature of Ride Pokemon might not be as all-terrain as the firstLegendsgame, the need for getting around Lumiose City in a timely manner is still important.

1Mamoswine
An Icy Ride
Featured as the only way to get through a snowstorm-swept route, Mamoswine may not be a very likely candidate for the far more temperate Lumiose, but with Mamoswine’s ability, it may have a role in the redevelopment plans. Since Mamoswine can crush giant boulders, it’s entirely possible such immense power would be useful and necessary for fixing up the city.
Beyond the ability to destroy frosty rocks, Mamoswine is also able to travel through several feet of snow without issue. This isn’t a tremendously helpful ability in central Kalos, where rain tends to be the most common type of weather. Compared to other Ride Pokemon found inX and Y, Mamoswine is not a likely returning option.

2Rhyhorn
A Rough Ride For Redevelopment
Rhyhornis essentially the more viable version of Mamoswine for possible Ride Pokemon inLegends: Z-A.While Rhyhorn effectively operates the same as the icy mammoth, as it also allows the player to travel over and through otherwise hazardous, impassible terrain, both the specifics of Rhyhorn’s all-terrain capabilities and Kalos' focus on this specific Pokemon make it a solid possible choice.
With the general focus of the player’s mom being a Rhyhorn racer, the presence of a Rhyhorn racing track near the Pokemon League, and the rideable Rhyhorn, this Gen 1 Pokemon is certainly a likely choice inZ-A. Additionally, Rhyhorn can smash large boulders and travel over rocky and rugged terrain, which might be a common issue in construction areas within Lumiose City.

3Gogoat
Public Transport In Lumiose City
One of the few Generation 6 Ride Pokemon found inX and Y, Gogoat operates as a middling option for public transportation in Lumiose City. Taking players from one Gogoat stand to another at the end of the boulevard, there’s no option for the player to actually control the direction or location beyond the set end.
In theory, Gogoat could play thesame role as Wyrdeerdoes inPokemon Legends: Arceus, as a quick way to traverse through the streets and alleys of the city. As such an underwhelming Ride Pokemon in the original game, and the only Ride Pokemon the player has to pay for, the potential for Gogoat is clear.

4Skiddo
Skipping Across The Landscape
While only rideable in a select route and farm area, Skiddo is the ideal choice for a Wyrdeer analog forLegends: Z-A. Although not fully evolved like either the Hisuian Stantler evolution or Gogoat, the ways Skiddo lets the player get around the world is aperfect addition for anotherLegends-style game.
Unlike its evolution, Skiddo is speedy, freely controllable, and able to jump short ledges, giving it all the functionality desired of a Ride Pokemon, especially for a city under construction, as it aims for a better balance with nature. Even with such a short section of this rideable Pokemon available in the original games, either Skiddo or Gogoat with this ability would be perfect inLegends.

5Lapras
The Easter Egg Surf Pokemon
One of the most iconic Pokemon to use surf, having Lapras return inLegends: Z-Aas the surf option parallel to Basculegion would be a perfect addition. While the canals of Lumiose City aren’t quite like the open oceans or running rivers found throughout the Kalos region, the presence of the ever-popular Lapras is a fitting continuation for the surfing easter egg Pokemon.
Originally the only unique surfing Pokemon model inX and Y, the addition of Lapras in theLegendsfollow-up would be perfect. While functionally the same as the nondescript blob Pokemon that usually appears for surfing, the addition of the Lapras model and design adds far more charm to the entire act. Given how Lapras has appeared twice as the Pokemon model for surfing in both Johto and Kalos, returning to Lumiose Citywould be a wonderful detail fromX and Y.
