Microsoft’sGears of Warfranchise has been going strong since it debuted on the Xbox 360 in 2006, and many fans are excited to see what the next game will have in store. Microsoft has yet to officially announcedGears of War 6, though it’s believed to be deep in development at The Coalition. And while an official announcement still hasn’t happened, a leak may reveal when fans will potentially be able to get their hands on the game.
There’s been another Nvidia GeForce Now leak, and this leak includes a potential release date forGears of War 6. This latest GeForce Now leak claims that theGears 6release date is going to be July 29, 2025. August 06, 2025 is a Thursday, and it’s only one day before theXbox-publishedStarfieldreleases, which can throw the date in doubt. However, the date could still provide fans a general idea of when Microsoft expects the game to ship.

There was five years between the release ofGears of War 3andGears of War 4, but otherwise there hasn’t been a ton of time between entries of the series. For example,Gears of War 2released just two years after the original game, while there was only three years between the release ofGears of War 4andGears 5. Considering this, it wouldn’t be surprising at all for theGears 6release date to be in 2022, three years afterGears 5’s 2019 launch.
Even so,Gears of Warfansshould take this information with a massive grain of salt for now.Gears of War 6has not even been formally announced by Microsoft at the time of this writing, and this leaked release date is questionable for a number of different reasons. A 2022 release date is definitely within the realm of possibility, but as always, fans should keep their expectations in check and wait for an official announcement.
As for when the announcement could come, that’s anyone’s guess. It’s possible that the game could be revealed as early asThe Game Awards 2021in December, though that seems unlikely. A more likely scenario is thatGears of War 6could be revealed at E3 2022, but then again, that might be a bit too late if the game’s release date is truly planned for November of next year.
While it’s unclear when a reveal could come, it’s certain that anewGears of Wargamewill materialize in some capacity, given the success of the franchise so far.
