Pokemon Sword and Shield’s first DLC expansion, the Isle of Armor, has arrived, and it has brought new Pokemon alongside returning ones as well. One of the returning Pokemon in the game is Magneton, butold schoolPokemonfansare having trouble figuring out how to evolve this familiar Pokemon.
For those that aren’t familiar with the previous games, Magneton is capable of evolving into Magnezone when leveled up in a magnetic field. Unfortunately, there are none of those inPokemon SwordandShield, which has left many players puzzled. The answer, however, is simple: Magneton no longer requires a magnetic field to evolve into Magnezone.

Instead, Magnezone hops on board the evolutionary stone train, and can simply be obtained by exposing a Magneton to a Thunder Stone. This is admittedly much easier, but only if the player knowswhere to actually get a Thunder Stoneto use for the evo process.
The first thing players will need to do is find aMagneton or Magnemite. They are not uncommon, so this shouldn’t be terribly difficult. If catching a Magnemite, it will eventually evolve into its second form, Magneton at level 30. At this point, navigate to the items bag and select the Thunder Stone. The game should prompt the player to pick one of the Pokemon in their party to use the stone on, and selecting Magneton will cause the Pokemon to evolve immediately. This can be done to Magneton at any level, even level 30.
There are a couple places that players can get Thunder Stones to evolve their Pokemon with. In the base game, Thunder Stones can be found at North Lake Miloch in the north-eastern corner of that region or at the Lake of Outrage behind one of the large stones. These are the easiest locations to get them from, but Isle of Armor may provide yet more ways to obtain these rare stones.Thunder Stones are required to evolveinto Raichu, Jolteon, and Vikavolt as well as Magnezone, so players should use them wisely.
This problem mostly plagues veteran players, as they are more used to searching for magnetic fields in order to evolve Magneton into Magnezone, but knowing where to find Thunder Stones can be useful for new players as well. Hopefully, this information helps trainers get ahold of Magnezone, whether it’s just tofill out the Pokedexor to add to one’s team.
