It’s been a long time since Dratini first had a Community Day spotlight back in 2018, but the superpopular Gen 1 Dragon-typeis back thanks to November’s Community Day Classic event. As always, the Community Day Classic event will offer a small handful of hours for players to enjoy increased spawns, exciting features, and hopefully some shiny encounters.
Dratini’s original Community Day was particularly popular because of the opportunity it offered to rack up Dragon-type catches. That may be a good motivator once again this weekend as some players are still working towards theirPlatinum Medals. Even if that’s not the case, this event’s featured Pokemon combined with the Stardust bonus should work together to make this a very popular event inPokemon GOthis Saturday afternoon.

Trainers don’t necessarily need to do a lot of prep work ahead of Community Day Classic events, but being aware of the specific bonuses can be very helpful in setting priorities for the limited time festivities. Trainers shouldtake each bonus into considerationas they plan their afternoons and decide how they will be enjoying Dratini’s special day.
Start and End Times
From 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time
Starting in February 2019, Community Day events now always take place on local time, no matter where you are playing. That changes a bit over the winter months as the time is split between hemispheres rather than time zones.
Special Move
Evolve Dragonair (Dratini’s Evolution) during the event or up to two hours afterward to get a Dragonite that knows the Charged Attack Draco Meteor. verify to evolve during the active time window (within two hours of the event ending) if you want to secure the exclusive move.
Bonuses
Shiny Variant
Niantic usually doesn’t confirm the shiny chance until after the event has started, but keep an eye out for shiny Dratini while hunting. They’ve been a part of every other Community Day and Community Day Classic event, so we fully expect to see them this month, as well.
That should be just about everything players need to know to Dratini’s Community Day event arrives in just a few days, so be sure to take care of any preparations to in-game inventory and storage space now.
