Introduced as a Mythical Pokemon in Generation 1, Mew is a unique Pokemon that’s unable to evolve into another Pokemon. However, it shares similarities withGiovanni’s Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo, which is also a Psychic-type. Mew and Mewtwo were not available inPokemon Scarlet and Violetat launch, but a limited-time Get Mew & Mewtwo event allowed them to make their Generation 9 debut this past August. After obtaining Mew, players may battle Mewtwo in a challenging 7-star Tera Raid event as well. Mew’s inclusion did not stop fans from speculating about what a potential new form or variant may look like, however.
Pokemonfan artist Xezeno recently completed original concept artwork for Mewcha, a futuristic mecha form of Mew with a dark pink and brown color scheme. This Mew variant appears to be fully mechanical with slim, rainbow-colored wings on its back, and various hexagonal plates on Mewcha’s body may float in midair. Mewcha also has its own Poke Ball with a matching aesthetic, implying that the Pokemon can transform a standard Poke Ball’s appearance once captured. Xezeno did not share any specific information about this Pokemon, but users like Constant_Anything925 theorize that Mewcha could be a Psychic/Fairy-type Pokemon. What’s more, Mewcha shares characteristics of futureParadox Pokemon fromPokemon Scarlet and Violet, such as a metallic body and an otherworldly design.
Xezeno’s Mew concept appears to be positively received by thePokemoncommunity on Reddit, with some fans creating their own lore about Mewcha’s strange DNA. Some fans would also like to see the “Mew duo” expand to a trio with an officially recognized version of Mewcha since the Pokemon could make for another compelling addition tothe franchise’s ever-growing Pokedex.
An official new Mew form seems unlikely, but The Pokemon Company and Game Freak could consider one if Mew ties into the lore of a newPokemongame or anime, just like the original Mew once did in Generation 1. For now, players may still acquire Mew and Mewtwo through trading inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. InPokemon GO, players mayobtain Mew by completing the Mythical Discovery Special Research. Capturing Mew inPokemon GOgrants additional rewards as well, such as Mew Candy and a bounty of XP.
