Summary

A talentedPokemonfan has created a new form for Falinks, giving the critter an inventive design. With the release ofPokemon Sword and Shield,Pokemonfans were introduced to new features such as the Dynamax and Gigantamax transformations, the debut of the Rotom Phone to replace the Rotom Pokedex, and dozens of new Pokemon.

Pokemon Sword and Shieldadded 96 new Pokemon to the National Pokedex registry, among them names popular with fans such as Sirfetch’d, Applin, and Greedent. AnotherPokemon featured in Gen 8is Falinks, a small but brave Fighting-type. Falinks is a group of bipedal Pokemon that wear yellow armor and march in a line, giving the formation the shape of a centipede. In combat, Falinks adopts different strategies and formations, always following their leader’s orders as absolute. While Falinks is an interesting Gen 8 Pokemon, onePokemonartist has taken inspiration from Pokemon to create an alternative form that has attracted the attention of the community.

Twitter user d3ad8un created an alternative form for Falinks that imagines the Pokemon as a Fighting/Ghost-type. The fan art depicts only the leader of the troop, known as “the brass,” wearing the group’s characteristic armor. The top of the leader’s helmet, which is slightly larger than the other soldiers, has an even higher tip, with a white flag on top of it. The brass has a fierce look and a scar over one of its eyes, and the soldiers who used to follow it now appear as ghosts, giving an impressive makeover to one of thebest Gen 8 Pokemon.

As well as making impressive fan art, the artist has created a Pokedex entry that gives the Falinks leader a tragic and heroic backstory. According to the artist’s text, the brass has lost its Falinks comrades, so it puts on a brave face and marches in their memory, having the power of an entire army. WhileFalinks has no evolution, it works similarly to Pokemon such as Exeggcute and Maushold, which are formations of individuals.

ThePokemoncommunity is remarkably creative at giving new forms to their favorite Pokemon, and Falinks is no different.Pokemonfans have praised d3ad8un’s work, with one user saying that the artist’s concept reminded them of thecreepy way Basculin evolves, “but way more brilliant.” WithPokemon Legends: Z-Acoming out only next year, fans will have time to imagine more evolutions for Pokemon, while waiting to find out if Falinks will finally receive a new form.
