In Dengeki Online’s coverage ofPersona 3 Reload, it mentions a brand-new mechanic known as “Shift,” with this feature being triggered when hitting an enemy Shadow’s weakness and getting a 1 MORE. In the original game, getting 1 MORE allows the current user another free action, such as attacking again or using an item. However, the Shift mechanic can allow a player to grant this additional action to a different party member by pressing the left trigger, effectively making thisPersona 3 Reload’s version ofP5’s Baton Pass.
On top of that, it was also confirmed thatPersona 3 Reload’s spell line has been reworked, where it is adding the Light and Darkness skills that were previously re-introduced inPersona 5, Eiha and Kouha. In the originalPersona 3and4, light and dark spells were limited to instant kill variants known as Hama and Mudo.Persona 5brought back the Eiha and Kouha spells from the very firstPersonagame that gave players options to use light and dark elements, adding standard damage-dealing spells instead of only having insta-kill options.
This rework of spells will help elevate Ken and Koromaru, who specialized in light and darkness elements respectively. In the original game, their focus on these two elements limited their uses and players would struggle to use either party member against bosses due to their insta-kill immunity. WithPersona 3 Reloadgiving them these skills, it might make them more viable to use, alongside the other improvements introduced in the remake.
Persona 3 Reloadis releasing on June 05, 2025, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
