Summary
Overwatch 2recently stated that some of the more unique and interesting abilities from its Mirrorwatch event could become real in the future. While far from hard confirmation, popular skills like Bastion’s Reinforcement Ultimate or Reinhardt’s Frenzy passive could return toOverwatch 2in some form in the future.
On May 24,Overwatch 2held an AMA on Reddit where developers answered questions from the community about the FPS. Most of these queries pertained to hero balance, givingOverwatch 2players a glimpse at some changes coming to Reaper, Cassidy, and other characters in the future.

However, Reddit user andOverwatch 2player North-Blueberry-7710’s question covered a very different subject. They asked if the radically uniqueabilities fromOverwatch 2’s Mirrorwatch eventwere secretly testing for future heroes or alternative kits. Lead hero designer Alec Dawson confirmed it was not a secret test, but that the devs were happy to see fans enjoying the new skills. That said, he did confirm that some of these ideas may not be stuck in this limited-time mode. “It’s always good to see what players get excited about when there are more wacky ideas such as Mirrorwatch or April Fool’s,” Dawson said, “some of those could become real down the line.”
Mirrorwatch Abilities Could Return in Overwatch 2
Dawson specifically called out Bastion’s Reinforcement Ultimate, which summons four Slicer bots to aid his team in battle, as one that was “quite fun even if very loud and on the border technically.” He also cited Reinhard’s Frenzy passive as something they had played with internally in the past. Players shouldn’t take this as confirmation that these abilities will make their way into their respective heroes’ kits, butOverwatch 2might play around with them in the future.

Players were intrigued to see Dawson tease some of these abilities returning in some manner. While many ofthese newOverwatch 2abilities were horrendously overpowered, fans loved Mirrorwatch, and don’t want to see it sidelined. Beyond Bastion’s ult and Reinhardt’s passive – both of which many players agreed they would love to see added to the main game – Sombra’s support-geared kit was especially popular with fans of the hacker hero.
Either way,Overwatch 2is gearing up for Season 11, currently scheduled to begin on June 18. While there won’t be a new hero until Space Ranger in Season 12,Season 11 ofOverwatch 2introduces the new Runasapi Push map, located in Illari’s home country of Peru. Fans should expect to learn more about this map, as well as the balance changes, skins, and other new features coming in this content update, in the coming weeks.
