Overwatchheroes arecharacterswith culturally diverse behaviors and personalities. There are 32 of them; each with their own unique demeanor. Adding to that, there’s much lore behind the gameplay;such as the Blackwatch forces, Talon forces, the Omnic Crisis, the Shimada drama, and so much more.

With 32 unique heroes, the possibility for dialogue exchange in endlessly varied. The interactions give depth to the gameplay experience, and provides some much-needed stakes to multiplayer matches. Aside from revealing some lore, interactions unveil the heroes' personalities; like showing how annoyedRoadhogis towardsJunkrat. Here are some of the most hilarious character interactions.
10Lucio’s Techno Music
Reinhardt:“Ah you kids today with your techno music! You should enjoy the classics, like Hasselhoff!”
Lucio:“I can’t even take you seriously right now!”
This is a very common interaction since Lucio and Reinhardt are the two foundational heroes ofDive Composition– a powerful meta composition. Lucio, the international DJ, is the kind of character that has a battle playlist that he listens to. He’s known inOverwatchas the groovy and spirit-filled freedom fighter. Reinhardt on the other hand, a much older, and a much more spirit-filled fighter shows disapproval of the “techno music” Lucio blasts out. Additionally, there’s even dialogue where Lucio tells Reinhardt that they need to “get him some new tunes.”
9D.Va Hates “Hackers”
D.Va:“Ohhh I can’t stand you hackers! You give those of us with skill a bad name!”
Sombra:“You know that isn’t the kind of hacking I do right?”
D.Va, the young pro gamer, accuses Sombra, the intelligence-stealing saboteur, of a different hacking nature. This makes the adorable D.Va seem even more innocent and naive than she already is. Traveling the world in search of intelligence, Sombra has seen databases with all the dark underground secrets that she uses to her advantage. With a slightly annoyed tone, she clarifies D.Va’s confusion regarding her “hacking” profession; and that she isn’t merely just the kind of hacker that uses wallhacks and aimbot.
Winston:“Hammond, how did you escape anyway?”
Hammond:squeaks
Winston:“What?! Well that explains the drag when I lifted off! I was sure that my calculations were correct!”
Hammond and Winston are two genetically engineered mammals that share one thing in common – they’re both escapees from the Horizon Lunar Colony experiment. As Winston was escaping to Earth with his spacecraft, an opportunistic Hammond hitched his own space capsule to Winston’s craft.

In just a little rodent squeak, which apparently wasn’t translated by his Wrecking Ball mech, he was able to convey all the details to Winston when asked about his escape to Earth. This exchange between the gorilla and the oversized hamster showed that despite being geniuses, they are also still animals, and thus have primal communication.
7Roadhog’s Joke
Junkrat:“You won’t believe the joke ol' pig face over there told me the other day, Roadhog?”
Roadhog:“Do you ever shut up?”
Junkrat and Roadhog are the most iconic duo ofOverwatch.Nothing like a classic “The Annoying” and “The Annoyed” chemistry. The relationship is mostly one-sided though since it seems Roadhog is constantly tired of the energy Junkrat brings to the table. As Junkrat encourages Roadhog to share the joke he told him, Roadhog immediately shuts him off. What’s even more surprising is that the strong silent Roadhog can tell jokes.
6Reaper’s Name is Gabe
Sombra:“What’s the plan today Gabe? You don’t mind if I call you Gabe do you?”
Reaper:“Stick to the mission”
Like Junkrat and Roadhog, Sombra always finds ways to poke fun at former Blackwatch leader Gabriel Reyes. Now known as Reaper, he is a chilling menacing force that strikes fear into the souls of his victims. Sombra however prefers to call him by the non-threatening alias “Gabe.”
5Genji’s Highscores
D.Va:“Genji, I heard you used to have all the high scores here”
Genji:“That’s right! Wait, ‘used to’? Hey, where did they all go?!”
Part of Genji’s misspent youth was playing videogames, and apparently being good at them too. Now that he’s left that all behind him in pursuit of self-discovery, he’s surprised to learn from pro gamer D.Va that his record scores are all beaten. D.Va’s delightful tone in her comment hints that she has beaten all the Sparrow’s scores.

Winston:“I wish he could do my taxes”
Tracer:“You pay taxes? What, to the moon?”
Winston:“No, Switzerland”
Winston is an ape that swings on tires, eats peanut butter, and– pays taxes. Not only is this out of the ordinary, but this humorous exchange adds a little detail to theOverwatchuniverse. No one is excluded from taxes. Not even sentient lifeforms such as genetically modified gorillas. Players aren’t the only one that’s surprised. Tracer has shown some bewilderment to this as well in anOverwatch: Storm Risingevent dialogue.
Mercy:“Keep quiet! We don’t want to attract any unnecessary attention”
Reinhardt:“COME OUT YOU BASTARDS! I’LL FIGHT THE LOT OF YOU!”
Reinhardt is never short of loud confident enthusiasm. In anOverwatch: Uprisingevent, Mercy, the team’s support, advises them to keep quiet. Reinhardt, being Reinhardt, yells from the bottom of his diaphragm a battle cry taunting enemies to come out. This dialogue is the epitome of his valiant character which is immediately met by the team’s collective facepalm.
2McCree’s Italian Accent
Moira:“McCree, we need to talk about your Italian accent”
McCree:“Well I watched a bunch of old Spaghetti Westerns. I thought it was pretty good! Bone-a sera señora. Can I-a get you-a somethin' to drink?”
Moira:“Please never do that again”
In an attempt to sound like Mario, McCree made a good impression of the big white chicken Foghorn Leghorn from Looney Tunes.

Moira, the prim and cultured scientist, confronts the most uncultured outlaw in anOverwatch: Retributionevent. Gabriel Reyes (Reaper), Genji, McCree, and Moira, of all people, are grouped in a lore PVE event. Due to the clashing and varying personalities of the four, a lot of interesting dialogues have taken place like Reaper mentioning the initial plan to disguise as the band. But McCree’s underwhelming Italian accent takes the cake in the presence of the most unimpressed hero inOverwatch –Moira.
1Torbjörn’s Height
Torbjörn:“I sometimes wonder if all that armor slows your brain down”
Reinhardt:“Yeah! And I sometimes wonder if your height is why you’re always in such a bad mood!”
When two of the rowdiestOverwatchheroes are together in a team, some gold exchanges could be expected. Torbjörn’s grumpy personality is the only one that can match Reinhardt’s overenthusiasm. The mechanic comments on all the mech and armor of theOverwatchheroes. Pharah, Brigitte, D.Va, and in this case, Reinhardt. As Torbjörn pokes fun at Reinhardt’s armor compensating for something, Reinhardt addresses at the grumpy ole troll’s height in return.
