Fans of theNo More Heroesgames who are finding it difficult to wait untilthe release of the third main-series entry later this yearmay find some solace in a recent announcement from publisher Limited Run Games. The first two games in the series, re-released on the Nintendo Switch eShop last year, are getting their own physical copies for those who prefer their games more tangible.
Limited Run Games is a publisher dedicated to bringing fans physical copies of games that otherwise wouldn’t get them, whether because they’re digital-exclusive or simply out of print. Their works range frombeloved indie gems likeTo The Moonto digital-only favorites on modern consoles like the Switch and PS4 and even back into the far reaches of the 90s with inexplicably goofy choices like schlocky FMV gameNight Trap.

Their latest project will see the physical release of the Switch ports of the first twoNo More Heroesgames, each one offered as a basic Standard Edition or a more lavish Collector’s Edition, with pre-orders opening on March 12th and staying open for four weeks. The former is a straightforward affair, offering purchasers a physical copy of the game in a box with full-color interior art and manual, and will set fans back $35.
The Collector’s Editions, offered at $70 a piece, offers an official SteelBook case, along with a reversible 18x24-inch poster, an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview, art book anda copy of the game’s soundtrackon a physical CD. Any supporters who pre-order both Collector’s Editions will even receive a replica Santa Destroy flag as well as all the other goodies.
While the price tag isn’t cheap, Limited Run Games has a track record for quality both in its published games and in the additional paraphernalia that often accompanies them. The company recently celebratedthe impressive milestone of selling 2.5 million physical gamessince its humble beginnings back in 2015, and to date has published over 300 different games.
It at least seems as though Limited Run Games won’t need to trouble themselves with handling a physical release forNo More Heroes 3, ifthe recently-revealed box art fromThe Boyscomic artist Darick Robertsonis to be believed. The much-anticipated sequel is still several months away but new details have been trickling through, such as the voice-acting line up which sees several actors reprising their previous roles in the games along with a healthy injection of new blood such as Noshir Dalal as the game’s main antagonist and Mark Allen Stewart replacing Quinton Flynn as Henry Cooldown.
No More Heroes 3will release on August 27th 2021, exclusively on Nintendo Switch, while physical copies ofNo More HeroesandNo More Heroes2will be available for preorder at Limited Run Games on March 12th 2021.
