Fortnitedropped the new Ninja skin along with the8-Ball vs. Scratch challenges this week, and players are excited to be able to play as the famous streamer. But it turns out the the skin has its own little secret; it changes as players wear it in the game.
This week,Fortnitedropped the first of themany famous streamer cosmeticswith the new Ninja skin. The skin is designed to look like Tyler Blevins, the streamer that made his name playingFortniteon YouTube, Mixer, and Twitch, known best by his username, Ninja. He, along with other famousFortnitestreamers, are going to be included in the game as different cosmetics. Ninja’s dropped first this week, and players have been scrambling to grab this limited-time item while it’s still available.

But those who have gotten Ninja’s cosmetic already have noticed something interesting as they have playedFortnitewith their shiny new skin: it changes as players continue to play. While the basic skin looks a lot like a cartoon version of Ninja himself, it changes to look a little more like Ninja’s logo with a dark face and glowing eyes. This is great news forFortnitefans who also love their streamers; this means that Epic is putting a lot of effort into making the streamer-themed cosmetics cool and interesting. The changingNinjaFortniteskinis different from everything else in the game not just because it’s based on a streamer. It’s nice to know that Epic is willing to put a lot of effort into its cosmetics, and fans should be excited to see what comes next based on this really amazing skin.
Unfortunately though, the Ninja skin does cost 1,500 V Bucks, which is the equivalent of about $10-15 USD. Whileoverpriced microtransactionsare becoming part of the norm for games, especially free-to-play games, that’s quite a lot of money for young players. IfFortniteand Epic plan to release a lot more streamer-based content, players will have to shell out quite a bit of real money to get these uniques. It’s a shame that they have gotten so expensive, and it shows a troubling tend for the future of microtransactions in games.
